Tom Cruise eyeing superhero role in ‘Sleeper’

Comic book superhero movies are all the rage these days. Tom Cruise is reportedly ready to jump on the superhero bandwagon to star in an adaptation of comic book classic Sleeper. The movie will be adapted from the DC Comics/Wildstorm comic book which centers on a spy who merges with an alien artifact makes him immune to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. Cruise is said to be helping set up the movie as a project for Warner Bros. along with director Sam Raimi,with an option of starring in the film himself.
Cruise who is looking to revitalize his somewhat slumping movie career, recently became the sole boss at United Artists films, after his partner Paula Wagner quit. However, Cruise’s deal allows him to continue working with other studios. Cruise is currently in negotiations to play the title character in the remake of the French spy thriller “The Tourist,” for Spyglass Entertainment. Cruise is also considering starring in the Working Title comedy “Food Fight,” for Universal.
