Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Colin Farrell donate ‘The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus’ paychecks To Matilda Ledger

Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Colin Farrell who stepped in to finish the filming of The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus for the late Heath Ledger have done him another solid. The mega star acting trio played different versions of Heath’s character in the fantasy-adventure film. Introducing the trio of actors was made possible because the film, subject matter deals with a traveling theater troupe, who via a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations.
Because Heath’s ‘out of date will’ left all of his money to his father at the time of his death, Jude, Johnny, and Colin wanted to insure his daughter Matilda was taken care of, so they’ve all donated their paychecks from the film to her.
Director Terry Gilliam now in post-production on the film says of his leading men,“The three actors were totally heroic coming in. This doesn’t happen very often . . . where there’s a tragedy like this, and very famous, very successful actors suddenly say, ‘Okay, we’ll do whatever it takes to help.’ They came; they did the work; they allowed the movie to be finished; they didn’t take money–the money goes to Heath’s daughter. That’s extraordinary! And wonderful . . . and when you’re part of that, you think, ‘Ah, this is maybe why I went into the movies, in the beginning. I thought it would be full of wonderful people.’ And in our case, we’ve got a movie full of wonderful people, who did extraordinary things to help.”

This is really nice to hear, it’s funny how wills work.
This is a very cool thing for them to do. You can tell they all have to be loving fathers of their own children to think of Matilda.
As for the movie, I can’t wait to see this. I suppose it’s a good thing all 4 men won’t be pictured on the screen at the same time or it might melt from all the hotness!
Matilda is gonna be one rich little girl….since this was written Heath’s parents have announced they’re gifting his estate to her. Sadly all of that won’t replace what she’s lost
I think it is very heroic what these 3 actors are doing with their paychecks. They could have kept the money added to their own wealth but instead they thought of a little girl who has to live her life without the father that loved her very much.
My only comment is be sure your affairs are in order. My husbands friends spent months knowing he was dying and left everything to my husband, his best friend, all to be snatched from him by a gold digger. And in this case under list of heirs, Matilda may be able to contest the policy anyways. But it is good that Heath’s dad is doing the right thing and giving it to Matilda.
I have always loved Johnny Depp since 21 Jump Street and this shows why. He’s a great caring man, as is Jude and Colin. Not many Hollywood “Stars” would do this for a child!
i really think they would be better off giving the money to some less fortunate. i feel for the child, but even if she was not to recieve the money from her fathers estate(which her grand-parents ARE giving to her) she still has a mother who makes more than enough to keep her in comfort. these actors, although being generous, need to look at the people who are in real need.
You are an ass!!! I am sure this young girl will spread her fortune to the less fortunate… I love all those guys … Johnny is a wonderful human and he is a caring father who I am sure would be greatful if his fellow actors thought of his children in this special was …. please god watch over Johnny the world is a much better place for him being with us…
I know its going to be a very sad day the day Johnny dies. I belive the whole nation will cry. They are truly giving and caring. Even through all the glamor and fame, they can pull together and help the little girl. And yes there are less fortunate, but guess what… These actors are so amazing because the ALREADY give to charity. So ya…..
I agree with you.I feel that this child is no way close to being to being destitute. The money could be used to help poor children , children in foster care or orphans. While their gesture is beautiful and loving I feel that the money should have gone to something really important
Thank you all for your comments. Can anyone tell me why the sudden popularity of this post 2.5 months later? Just curious?
