Isaac Hayes found dead at his home

Pioneering singer, Isaac Hayes, has reportedly been found dead at his home.
A family member, found Isaac unresponsive on the floor near a still running treadmill in his home and called for help. A Shelby County sheriff’s deputy responded the call.

Isaac was then taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee where he was pronounced dead at 2:08am. He passed at 65-years-old.

The Shelby Country Sheriff’s department will continue their investigation, but at this point no foul play is suspected.

Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. born August 20, 1942, came from a humble surroundings, and grew up picking cotton in Tennessee.

The album “Hot Buttered Soul” made Hayes a star in 1969. His shaven head, gold chains and sunglasses gave him a compelling visual image. A self-taught musician, Isaac won an Academy Award for best original song and two Grammy awards for his music for the film, “Shaft.” He received a third Grammy for his album “Black Moses.” In the early 1970s, Hayes laid the groundwork for disco, and for romantic singers like Barry White.

His career hit another high in 1997 when he became the voice of Chef, the sensible school cook and devoted ladies man on the animated TV show “South Park.”
