Mary-Kate Olsen wants immunity before talking with Federal investigators probing death of Heath Ledger?

The NY Post is reporting that Mary-Kate Olsen is not cooperating with Federal investigators probing the accidental drug death of Heath Ledger. Investigators have interviewed everyone connected to Ledger and his death, including his doctors, the masseuse, housekeepers, bodyguards, business associates and even the mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, Michelle Williams. Meanwhile Mary-Kate’s lawyer has allegedly rebuffed attempts by the feds to question Olsen, who was the first person called after her masseuse discovered Ledger’s body in his SoHo apartment in January. Apparently Mary-Kate has something to hide (rumors abound on her partying ways) and is afraid to tell what she knows without immunity from prosecution. Frustrated federal officials could obtain a grand-jury subpoena to compel Mary-Kate to tell them whatever she knows about Heath’s behavior, his possible drug use and the events of that fateful morning, according to sources.

Update: MK’s attorney Michael Miller has issued the following statement:

“Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger’s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them. Regarding the government’s investigation, at Ms. Olsen’s request, we have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger’s death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed. “

I kind of find the lawyer’s statement defensive and telling. Denying knowledge of where the drugs came from does not address whether Olsen is ducking investigators attempts to interview her.
