Nicolas Cage - John Carpenter to team up for prison thriller

Nicolas Cage and director John Carpenter are reportedly in final negotiations to team up for a prison thriller titled “Scared Straight.” The script for this movie has been rattling around since 2006. The independently financed film will be Carpenters first feature film since 2001’s Ghost of Mars. Cage was in theaters last year with “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” the biggest movie of his career.
Joe Gazzam and Ron Brinkerhoff’s script focuses on a troubled kid who’s sent to prison through the Scared Straight crime-prevention program,which imprisons delinquent teens for a short period in the hopes of scaring them from a life of crime. While the teen is there, a riot breaks out and prisoners take him hostage.” That should scare him straight! Cage will play a lifer in the prison who helps him out. Filming is planned to start in October.
