Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams have sparked interest that they may be a couple again, after they were spotted leaving together after the actor’s recent DJ debut.  At the DJ gig Gosling played ’40s- and ’50s-era doo-wop tracks for partygoers. The former couple met on the set of 2004 movie The Notebook, and had a two-year relationship until they split last year. Gosling was allegedly heartbroken by the split, previously branding McAdams as “one of the great loves of my life”. But the pair fueled rumors of a reunion after they left Gosling’s DJ set at Hollywood’s Green Door club on Tuesday (29Jul08) together.

After months of alleged grueling treatment to combat cancer, Paul Newman now appears to need a wheelchair to get around. We hope this is a temporary thing! In a photo of Paul in public during a recent outing in New York (which I don’t have copyrights to display here) the legendary movie star looks increasingly frail, pale and thin, with his clothes almost hanging off him. Newman retired from his acting career last year and said at the time in his deadpan way: ‘I’ve been doing it for 50 years. That’s enough. Unconfirmed reports say Paul is receiving treatment for lung cancer at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.  We wish Paul a speedy recovery.

On the eve of a couple of legal matters involving Britney Spears it’s interesting to see how her life has changed for the better of late. Britney of today thank goodness is duller than her former self. Photographers who relied on her for hourly material for the gossip blogs are confronted by a lack of access and a lack of drama. She rarely goes out and when she does, she behaves herself. No driving around aimlessly all night. No fake British accent. No panty-free car exits. The intense stakeouts that proceeded her confinement in a psychiatric ward in January are gone.

One of the legal matters coming up tomorrow involves Britney’s former manager Sam Lutfi. Spears legal tean won’t seek an extension on a restraining order against him, because Britney no longer wants anything to do with him and so her family no longer worries about his influence. Britney is not going back to the darkside.

Today Britney’s lawyers will attend court to review whether the conservatorship will remain over her personal life and finances should continue. It’s believed they will ask the judge to continue the conservatorship until the fall. TMZ reports it may last until the end of the year. It’s not a bad reflection on Britney’s mental health. It just buys her more time to continue to heal and get her life totally on track.

Dad Jamie has held control of her estate since February (08). Things have turned around for Britney since her dad took control. Ten months after she lost custody of her sons, she finalized an agreement with her ex-husband that provides for gradually expanding visitation rights. Brit is back in the recording studio. And on the rare occasions she ventures out, the gossip sites that documented her woes have congratulated her on her healthy, happy appearances.

Update: Jamie Spears his  conservatorship for his daughter for the remainder of the year. The court extended the conservatorship through December 31, with a status hearing scheduled for October 31st.

Imagine almost getting booted from your own party? Seth Rogan was recently partying at the rooftop bar at the Solamar in San Diego, at the Maxim party for his new flick, “Pineapple Express,” where he was reportedly spotted smoking something other then a cigarette (pot). He was told by hotel security to put it out immediately or leave.
Seth is rumored to be a connoisseur of the herb marijuana. Recently at the MTV Awards, Rogen and his stoner Pineapple Express movie co-star James Franco, said they were smoking “fake weed” as they presented the award for “best summer movie so far.” They joked that MTV chose them because only “two potheads like us” would be willing to announce such a weird category. New York’s Daily News wrote though that the “sweet scent wafting through the Gibson Amphitheatre suggested the herb was real.” Added Robert Downey Jr. (whose film Iron Man won): “Thanks for that intoxicating introduction.”
Accepting the Stoner of the Year Award primarily for his role in Knocked Up, Rogen said at the time, “If they could only make a Masturbator of the Year I’d be all set. Smoke weed everyday!” 

Bond producers have just announced that Alicia Keys and Jack White of The White Stripes have teamed-up to record the “Quantum of Solace” theme song. This is the first duet in Bond song history.

Jack wrote, produced and also plays drums, on the song called “Another Way to Die.” A perfect title for a Bond song, indeed!

Alicia Keys an 11-time Grammy winner, become the front runner for the job, after Amy Winehouse dropped the ball and never finished a song that was slated to be the Bond theme. The new Bond flick comes out in November.

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have overcome their creative differences to reunite for their first comedy tour in more than 25 years. Details of the “Hey, What’s That Smell?” tour were to be announced Wednesday (today) at a news conference in West Hollywood, Calif., according to concert promoter Live Nation.During their original run, Marin and Chong released nine comedy albums between 1972 and 1985, were nominated for four Grammy Awards and won one. They also starred in eight feature films, almost always portraying a pair of comical stoners stumbling through life.

Cheech Marin, 62, shared the news with AP Radio that he and Tommy Chong decided to do this now before it’s too late saying “looked at each other going, `If we’re ever going to do something it has to be now because you’re not getting any younger and neither am I.’”

The comedy duo have tried to reunite before, but have always fought too much. Marin laughed and said: “It takes about 3 minutes for that to happen. There’s this veiled hatred.” But he added: “We’ve kind of resolved that. We’ve gotten to the age where we don’t feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning,” he said.

Marin said he thinks dope humor can be as funny today as it was back in the ’70s.

“I think it’s time for a revival of dope jokes. It’s a much bigger audience now, it’s much more widespread and institutionalized,” he said in an interview earlier this month.

While Chong has continued to do standup, Marin has concentrated on films and TV appearances and in the past that seemed to be a source of friction.  “He considers himself an actor,” Chong said, “someone above the comedy. He wouldn’t do the characters and he won’t grow his mustache back.”

“I guess Cheech forgot how tough standup is,” Chong joked last month after Marin said they were considering reuniting. But he’s got the incentive and the enthusiasm and he’s ready,” he said of his former partner. “My boy is back.”
