Johnny Depp’s Island to be eco-friendly

Actor Johnny Depp is reportedly making his private island completely eco-friendly. And, since there aren’t exactly power lines running to the tiny island, he had to figure out how to power his home. For the green-minded Depp, diesel generators just weren’t an option. So the environmentally-conscious actor has reportedly invested up to $500,000 in a grid-independent solar hydrogen system to power the 40-acre isle in the Bahamas, which he purchased in 2005 for $3 million. The state-of-the-art technology will harness the sun’s rays to provide unlimited energy to the Depp household. According to the report, the Pirates of the Carribean star is third in line to receive a grid-independent solar hydrogen system from Mike Strizki. The inventor created the nation’s first solar-hydrogen house in New Jersey” without sacrificing any of the amenities included in his 3,500 square-foot home.
