Tom Cruise considering return for Top Gun II?

Tom Cruise is said to be in talks to reprise his role of Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. Are they out of good ideas, or is it just slim picken’s for new scripts for Cruise? 22 years after the release of Top Gun, movie moguls are strongly considering, making a sequel to Top Gun and a script outline has been reportedly created. They are keen to resurrect the mega-successful 1986 movie, believing if Cruise agrees to reprise his role, Top Gun II would be a surefire box office hit. Yeah right. The original Top Gun launched Tom onto Hollywood’s A-list and earned $350 million worldwide.
An inside source says, “The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor – and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot.”
Let’s hope Tom doesn’t demand they cast Katie Holmes as the cocky new pilot?
Cruise hasn’t had much success at the box office lately. After his last big hit War Of The Worlds in 2005, he followed with Mission Impossible III which performed below expectations and brought in less money than the first film. And his last film, Lions for Lambs , which was released last year was panned by audiences and critics alike.
This movie is not going to happen!
