Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend fueding as The Who reunion kicks off

The Who reunion tour is set to kickoff on the heels of their VH1 Rock Honors appearance.
Unfortunately legendary frontman Roger Daltrey and guitarist/songwriter Pete Townshend are reportedly not getting along. But, with the tour expected to make $100 million, anything and everything’s being done to keep it and them together.
Like a lot of great rock guitar/frontman combos such as Joe Perry/Steve Tyler, Keith Richards/Mick Jagger they act like brothers who often can’t be in the same room at the same time. Daltrey and Townshend are the only surviving members of the original Who. Drummer Keith Moon died in 1978, and bassist John Entwistle died of a suspected OD in 2002.
Part of the current spat between the two, is Townshend supposedly wants to try out some of the new stuff he’s written on the road, whereas Daltrey thinks they should stick to the classics (I am with Daltrey on this one!). So to keep the feuding bandmates from tearing each other apart:
- There will be no conversation between the two of them either before or after performances. “They will basically show up, play, and leave,” reveals the insider.
- The two rockers must have separate dressing rooms on opposite ends of the hallway.
- They must have separate travel arrangements, separate hotel accommodations, as well as separate staffing.
The tour, which kicks off in Detroit on Oct. 21, takes the band through Los Angeles in November but, “they are trying to book more shows so that the North American part of the tour goes through 2009. Then they will hit Japan and Australia,” if they can keep it together long enough!
