SNL’s Amy Poehler set to star in ‘The Office’ spinoff?

Funny lady Amy Poehler is reportedly in advance negotiations with NBC to star in the network’s upcoming spinoff of The Office. That’s going to really suck for Saturday Night Live!
Producers have been very secretive about the yet-to-be named spinoff, but it is reportedly scheduled to join NBC’s Thursday roster in February, following a post-Super Bowl premiere. If Amy does finalize a deal for the show, she will join “SNL” alum Tina Fey on NBC’s Thursday night lineup. Tina, who stars in NBC’s “30 Rock,” teamed with Amy for the spring feature hit “Baby Mama.”
Variety reports it’s looking more likely that the show may not be a spinoff in the traditional sense and it’s unlikely that Office characters will segue to the new show, despite early reports stating otherwise.
Instead, the show could potentially be a “planted spinoff,” in which characters are first introduced on The Office before moving on to the new series. But it’s also possible that the show won’t be a spinoff at all (which could impact who’s involved with the show), but a wholly separate series in the same comedic vein as The Office. Clear as mud!
