Kate Hudson has reportedly landed a leading role in the big screen version of hit Broadway musical Nine, beating out some stiff competition. The film by Chicago director Rob Marshall tells the story of famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) and the women in his life. Kate is rumored to have beaten rival actresses Anne Hathaway and Sienna Miller to win the role of Vogue fashion journalist Stephanie in the movie adaption. Hudson joins a host of Hollywood heavyweights, with Oscar winners Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench all taking starring roles in the movie. A new song, Cinema Italiano, was written for Hudson’s character who will do a sexy dance number with Lewis. Filming is expected to start in September 2008.
