The entertainment industry seems less about art and more about cashing in these days. Matthew McConaughey’s new baby is not even a week old and he is already making money. TMZ reports that OK! Magazine beat out People for the first photos of newborn Levi.
OK! will pay $3 million for the deal which also includes baby Levi’s first Christmas. OK! supposedly also gets first right to the pictures of the wedding if Matthew and Camila get married — though they’ll have to pay extra for those snaps. No word on whether OK! has attained any second born rights but it fits this fractured fairy tale.
The bidding war for exclusive rights of the first pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s yet unborn twin offspring has reportedly reached $16 million and could go even higher.
People Magazine reportedly paid $4 million for Shiloh’s first pictures. In March, People set a record by buying pictures of Jennifer Lopez’s twins for around $5-6 million. And now maybe $16 million or more! It’s unlikely that the winning magazine will actually recoup all that cash from sales of the baby issue but it’s all about prestige, and shutting out the competition. On perhaps the one positive thing to come out of this ridiculous waste of money is that rumor has it Brad and Angelina will donate all money procured from the photos to charity. However there is a rather petty catch. A source in the know tells TMZ that one of the conditions of getting the twins’ first pictures is that the winning mag is forbidden from using “Brangelina.” Multiple sources tell the couple hates the moniker — but no one more than Angelina.
