Are you kidding? The Osbournes to host a variety show!

Following in the footsteps of Donny and Marie Osmond? The colorful family of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are reportedly set to host their very own one-hour variety show. Fox Network has given a six-episode order for the variety show described as a throwback to the heyday of shows like The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour. There used to be a bunch of those shows’ back in the day, with hosts like Andy Williams, Glen Campbell, Flip Wilson and such. But the Black Sabbath frontman with wife Sharon and kids, Jack and Kelly seem like, shall we say a little bit of a less wholesome family image then the stars of the past. However the new Osbourne show will have musical performances and comedy sketches as well as gameshows, audience participation and out-of-studio taped elements. One idea being kicked around is for a segment dubbed “The Osbournes Meet the Osbournes,” in which Ozzy and Co. spend time with another Osbourne clan. While this former Reality TV starring family seem an odd fit for the role, Sharon Osbourne is a mainstay of British TV talk and variety shows, and she hosted a syndie daytime yakker in the U.S. for Telepictures Prods. in 2003-04. It will be interesting to see if the Osbourne’s can pull this off?
