Johnny Depp thrills young fan with promised gift ‘hat’

Johnny Depp thrilled a young fan by keeping his promise to send the boy his hat. Playing 1930’s bank robber John Dillinger – American’s Most Wanted at the time – for his upcoming movie Public Enemies, Depp was shooting on location in Wisconsin in April when he was observed on the set by local 12-year-old boy Jack Taylor, who especially liked Depp/Dillinger’s hat.
Depp then promised he would send the tan and grey headwear to him once filming had finished, and Jack was amazed when Depp made good on his promise and the hat arrived in the post.
The hat was posted along with gifts for Taylor’s four siblings said to be promotional items from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, in which Depp played eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka.
The package arrived with a note signed by Depp which read: “Here is a hat for you. Hope you like this and assorted fun bits.”
Now Taylor is at work on a thank-you note with a little help from his parents.
