New Da Vinci Code prequel banned from filming in Catholic churches

Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard are known as ‘nice guys’ but their not being looked on favorably by Rome’s Catholic diocese.
The Vatican has reportedly barred the crew of Hanks’ latest film, Angels & Demons, from filming in any church in Rome .
Angels & Demons is the ‘prequel’ to the blockbuster The Da Vinci Code.
The Da Vinci Code book and movie angered many Catholics across the world. The story prompted calls for boycotts by church leaders worldwide with the idea that Jesus married and fathered children and by depicting the conservative Catholic movement, Opus Dei, as a murderous cult.
According to a diocese spokesman, the movie’s filming requests were turned down because the movie “does not conform to our views. It’s a film that treats religious issues in a way that contrasts with common religious sentiment said Monsignor Marco Fibbi, a spokesman for the diocese.
