Katherine Heigl to star in memoir ‘Escape’

Katherine Heigl is taking a departure from romantic comedies and has signed on to star in a film about polygamy. The Grey’s Anatomy star isn’t just acting in “Escape”, she’s also producing. It’s a pretty serious subject based on the bestselling memoir of Carolyn Jessop, whose testimony helped convict polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs. Jessop was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints sect and at 18 she married a man 32 years her senior; at 35, she fled with her eight children. No word yet when filming will start as the script is just being worked on. Meanwhile Heigl is currently shooting the Robert Luketic-directed Sony/Lakeshore comedy “The Ugly Truth.”
