Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend Raffaello Follieri under investigation again

Actress Anne Hathaway’s boyfriend of four year Raffaello Follieri, may be in hot water again according to reports. Raffaello is an Italian businessman and real estate investor, who heads a charity called the Follieri Foundation. NY State Attorney General Andrew Andrew Cuomo is investigating the charity, which is a nonprofit agency providing immunizations for children in Third World countries.
While the exact nature of the probe is currently unknown, the attorney general’s office has confirmed that it issued subpoenas for various financial records of the Manhattan-based charity. The state of New York and the IRS are investigating Follieri, who has reportedly not filed the required tax disclosure forms, among other things.
A representative for Follieri said the 29-year-old businessman “looks forward to concluding this matter in a timely and expeditious manner…so that he may continue to fulfill his ongoing philanthropic endeavors worldwide.”
The telephone at Raffaello’s 5th Avenue Manhattan apartment has been disconnected and his foundation website has been shut down. Ann Hathaway was on the foundation’s board of directors at one time. Her publicist, Stephen Huvane said this in an e-mail:
There is an investigation going on that does not involve Anne. She is no longer a board member of the Follieri Foundation. Other than that we will not be commenting.”
Follieri has had other questionable business dealings in recent past. This new investigation comes two months after Follieri was arrested in Manhattan on charges that he bounced a $215,000 check. The said check was written against an account that a source said had just $39 in it, to a New Jersey man for services to his real-estate company, the Follieri Group. Charges were dropped in May after Follieri paid up.
Earlier this year, Follieri settled a lawsuit filed by Los Angeles billionaire Ron Burkle, who accused him and the Follieri Group of “systematically misappropriating” at least $1.3 million of more than $55 million that Burkle’s company had contributed to a joint venture to buy and redevelop Catholic Church properties.
Burkle’s suit said Follieri used the money to fund an extravagant lifestyle that included private jet travel for himself and Hathaway, as well as for loans of hundreds of thousands of dollars to the foundation. The suit was reportedly settled earlier this year, with Follieri agreeing to pay back the funds.
