Actor Patrick Swayze is doing well with his treatment for pancreatic cancer and is hopeful to have some full-time work soon.

In a statement to People magazine Wednesday, the Swayze described an activity-packed schedule that shows he and wife Lisa aren’t slowing down.

“Lisa and I have been back and forth from New Mexico enjoying the arrival of spring and new baby calves.
“This past weekend, we spent a fun time with friends in Reno for Lisa’s birthday, where I took her jewelry shopping … and (we) were able to find her something really special and much deserved!”

“In the meantime, I am continuing treatment at Stanford and the great news is I continue to respond well.”

But what Patrick would like now to see happen is for the A&E network to greenlight his FBI-based TV drama “The Beast.”

A&E spokesman Michael Feeney told the Daily News:

“We’re delighted to hear the news that he’s doing well. He completed a phenomenal pilot in December, and it remains in strong contention to become a series,” Feeney said. It’s one of several pilots we have in development to become a series on A&E. But the network has not made a decision yet.”

If picked up, production would start in the summer or early fall, sources said. “He would be doing a publicity campaign,” Wolf said.

It’s got to be somewhat of a dilemma for A&E, presuming they think the series has potential. Knowing Patrick’s condition and how hard a star actor has to work in a tv series with on-the-set days being 12-16 hours plus publicity campaigns.  How can they ask or expect Swayze to be able to pull this off, even if he really wants to do it?
