Eddie Murphy is set to reprise his role in police drama ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, for the fourth installment of the franchise as Detroit detective Axel Foley.
The actor will likely team up with Brett Ratner who is in negotiations to direct the movie.
However, Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original “Beverly Hills Cop” trilogy with late partner Don Simpson won’t be actively involved in the new film, according to Variety.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce instead.
The first movie from the Beverly Hills Cop franchise was released in 1984, and grossed $316 million at cinemas worldwide.
The trilogy took in 712.9 million dollars worldwide with the last one being released in 1994.
It is hoped the Paramount film will be shot next year (09) in time for a 2010 release.
