Harrison Ford ready to revise Jack Ryan?
Hot Momma Gossip hears, Indiana Jones might not be the only one of his old characters Harrison Ford will revisit. Harrison is considering reprising another of his big-screen action heroes–his role as special agent Jack Ryan.
The 65-year-old actor played Jack Ryan, novelist Tom Clancy character in both Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Ford followed in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin in 1990 film The Hunt for Red October and Ben Affleck, stepped in for 2002′s The Sum of All Fears, while Ryan Gosling is the latest actor to have been linked to the role.
But Ford insists he would definitely consider making a third Jack Ryan movie, because he would love to play a mature version of the legendary character.
He was recently quoted as saying, “The Ryan films…the Tom Clancy films were, I thought, worth re-exploring again, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the book on which the last one was based. I think they made a cracking good shot at it and I think Ben Affleck is very, very talented.
“That’s a character that I think you could revisit acknowledging the passage of time and his increasing age. It wasn’t age dependent; that character and his experiences were chock-full of recipes for good engaging movies, so that’s a character I wouldn’t mind revisiting.”
However it may not be Harrison Ford’s decision to make whether he revisits the Ryan role. But it seems there is indeed talk of getting Harrison back as Ryan, however there’s opposition as well. Reportedly, Mace Neufeld, who produces the series, wants Harrison to return to the role but Paramount isn’t really sold on the idea and still think a younger face is the way to go.
Well nothing changes a movie studio’s direction quite like cash flow, and if Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull makes a couple hundred million in it’s first week of release, Harrison Ford suddenly becomes a sought after, money-making commodity again. That’s something he hasn’t really been since the 90s. Harrison Ford looks to back in a big way, and that may give people like Mace Neufeld the ammunition they need to talk Paramount into doing things the Harrison Ford way.
