Disney ready to rollout Demi Lovato on the teen queen career path

You might want to make note of this name because you are going to hear it a lot soon, particularly if you have children. The Disney star making machine is churning on behalf of 15 year-old Demi Lovato. In the mold of Hilary Duff, and Miley Cyrus, Lovato is an actor, singer and can dance as well. Disney Channel originally introduced Lovato to viewers last year in the shortform comedy series “As the Bell Rings.” She also co-stars in Disney’s upcoming telefilm “Princess Protection Program.”

But now things have been kicked up a notch with Demi, starring in the upcoming Disney movie Camp Rock, alongside the Jonas Brothers.

And to immediately capitalize on Demi’s presence in the highly anticipated movie, it’s just been announced that she’s getting her own show on the Disney channel, called Welcome to Mollywood.

The new show will center on Demi playing Molly, a 15 year-old from a small town who wins a role on a teen comedy TV show after competing on a nationwide search.

So it’ll be like a show within a show, sound ‘Miley’ familiar? Gary Marsh, president of entertainment at Disney Channels Worldwide, says, “This series is rooted in one of the core thematic attributes that we stand for, which is following your dream. There also was the opportunity to do a hybrid show.”

Demi also has a recording contract with Disney’s Hollywood Records, and she’s set to go on tour with the Jonas Brothers this summer.
