CBS and ABC cancel popular first season shows

CBS fan favorite vampire drama Moonlight will not be rising again for another season. Recently fans organized a nationwide blood drive to try to rally viewer support for a renewal. But CBS declined to pickup the show because it was failing to hold its Ghost Whisperer lead-in and declined in the ratings post-strike. CBS also axed Shark, a show that started strong but lost it’s bite. The cancellations mean The Big Bang Theory is the only member of CBS’ freshman crop to return next year.
CBS has officially renewed the following veteran shows: Old Christine (WBT), Rules of Engagement (Sony/CBS Paramount), How I Met Your Mother (20th Century Fox TV), The Unit (20th Century Fox TV)
ABC is not renewing Oprah Winfrey’s Big Give for a second season this coming fall. The queen of talk shows is not upset by the news and felt like she got the message out there. t was not something she wanted to renew.
Big Give wasn’t the only show to get the ax. Cashmere Mafia, Men in Trees, and Women’s Murder Club have all been dropped.
