Pete Doherty was let out of prison early yesterday — to the fury of anti-drug campaigners.

Doherty, 29, served only 29 days of a 14-week sentence for violating probation after failing to turn up for court ordered drug tests.

Doherty left London’s Wormwood Scrubs at 7am.

He told reporters that he couldn’t wait to get home, pet his cat and drink a rum and coke.  And apparently from the picture that’s just what he did.
He also arrogantly said, “Thank you Mrs Thatcher for putting me in the company of the most dangerous criminals in the country.”

He left with a certificate saying he had passed drug tests and adding: “Well done.”

This was despite The Sun photographing him with drugs in his cell and revealing he injected heroin in the jail detox unit.

When ask if he had taken any drugs while in jail, Doherty told The UK Sun,

“Well, I knew it was going to be a bit rough to start with, with the overcrowding and the medical facilities although they do their best - they are good, they can’t really cater for the average junkie…”

I will take that as a yes!

Doherty had to hitch a lift from jail because his manager did not turn up.

Eventually he got to his home and six cats — one of which he gave crack to last year. Nice to be back home with the family.
