Mark Speight ‘found dead’ at Paddington station?
An as of yet unidentified body at Paddington station in London, is believed to be the missing TV presenter Mark Speight.
The body of the 42-year-old was discovered in a remote area of the station early Sunday morning. His death is being treated as “unexplained” but police confirmed that he had not been hit by a train.
Speight, a presenter of numerous kids TV shows, including the BBC’s SMart. The left-handed artist also achieved widespread fame for his mid-1990s children’s TV programme Scratchy & Co. He disappeared last week, three months after the death of fiancée Natasha Collins at their shared flat in St. John’s Wood. An inquest into Collins’ death just days earlier had revealed that she died from an overdose of cocaine and sleeping pills. Initially Speight was arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs but was last month told he would not be charged.
Relatives have been informed of the discovery, although a formal identification has yet to take place.
A statement issued by the BBC said: “This is very sad news and our thoughts and sympathies are with Mark’s family and friends. Mark was a hugely talented and very popular presenter for many years.
