Pat O’Brien getting “one last chance” from CBS

Pat O’Brien is getting “one last chance” from CBS brass after the host of “The Insider” was temporarily replaced while he did another rehab stint, with Donny Osmond. A source revealed to the NY Post that O’Brien (who just completed his second rehab stint) is returning to host the show alongside Lara Spencer. A rep for “The Insider” confirmed, “Pat O’Brien will be returning to ‘The Insider’ the week of April 14. He will be based in Los Angeles in a role best-suited for his continuing recovery.”

But it’s not necessarily out of CBS’s good graces that O’Brien is returning, and executive producer Linda Bell Blue will be “watching his every move.” The source clarified that:
“The only reason they’re taking him back is because Donny doesn’t want to work full time and Lara couldn’t hold the ratings on her own.”
