Katherine Heigl not interested in being ‘The Next Julia Roberts’

Posted on April 1st, 2008 by Hot Momma

Katherine Heigl talked to the Sunday Times and she discussed among other things having a family with new husband, Josh Kelly. Katherine said, “I think we’re both on such a career trajectory right now, it would be foolish to waste the opportunities. I think he’d prefer to wait a little more time, but I kind of wouldn’t, so I think we’ll meet somewhere in the middle.”

Katherine was the one who pursued and proposed to Josh so no real surprise here she’s the one pushing for having a baby first. So Katherine’s somewhere in the middle probably means Josh had better get ready for diaper duty soon.  Hope she is going to stop smoking soon if she’s really ready to reproduce.

Katherine also talked about her a career a little bit and what she thinks about being compared to Julia Roberts. The context of the comparison is that Heigl who found fame starring in TV medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, and has since found Hollywood success in movies like 2007’s Knocked Up. So being called the new Julia Roberts, Or Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock indicates there is a gap in the market that needed to be filled with a new leading lady for this generation.

Roberts, Like Heigl starred in a number of romantic comedies throughout her career. However, 29-year-old Heigl insists she is not out to copy anyone else’s acting style.

She says, “I can’t help but feel that’s (the comparison) is a little insulting to Julia Roberts. There’s not another woman who I look at and think, ‘That’s it, that’s whose career I want to have.’ I’m just me and trying to do the best I can in every decision in any given moment.”
