Robin Williams and his wife of 19 years divorcing

Robin Williams and his second wife, Marsha Garces Williams are divorcing. They had been married for 19 years. Marsha filed for divorce on March 21, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. The splitting couple, have two children, a daughter Zelda, who was born in 1989, and a son, Cody, in 1991. Before they were married, Garces Williams worked as a nanny for Zachary, born in 1983, to Williams and his first wife Valerie Velardi. They married soon after Williams’ divorce. Rumors of marital strife have been circulating for months.
Garces Williams’ lawyer, Robert Kaufman of Beverly Hills, would provide no information. Robin’s rep confirmed the split.
During their marriage, Garces-Williams worked as personal assistant to the comedian. Together they also created the Windfall Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on education, health, the environment and the arts. Garces-Williams focused on Doctors Without Borders and Seacology; Williams with the Christopher Reeve Foundation (he was Reeve’s classmate at Juilliard) and Comic Relief. Their house, in Sea Cliff, was the site of a variety of big-ticket fundraising dinners and cocktail parties.
