I agree with Ivy. Lucas is in no position to start lowering expectations because the public was appalled by his "Phantom Menace." Back then, I knew we were in trouble when the opening titles started rolling and it became clear the engine of his long-awaited prequel was TAXES. I sat there in the theater absolutely stunned. I guess he was referencing the "taxation without representation" stuff from the American Revolution. In any event, it was a poor choice of a plot to hang a movie on. And, yeah, he is terrible, for the most part, at casting. Can you imagine what Heath Ledger might have done with the role of Anakin Skywalker?

So now we're all waiting to see what Steven Spielberg has wrought with IJ4. Good thing he relented and directed the movie himself. I have a hunch that was the only way Harrison Ford would do another one. I'm a bit apprehensive, however, because I read that both Spielberg and Ford were not at all happy about the "crystal skull" plotline and initially begged off. In the end, I guess they figured that, skull or no, a sequel was bound to make a bazillion dollars and they might as well get a cut of the action.

If Lucas is comparing Indiana Jones to Phantom Menace, then, yes, we're in trouble.

So Lucas is playing "blame the victim". It's the AUDIENCE's fault that Phantom Menace didn't get the accolades it "deserved". It's the AUDIENCE's fault that it was unwatchable, horribly written, terribly acted, and basically a muddled nonsensical mess for 2 hours.

George, why can't you just admit you made a BAD movie. That you made 3 BAD movies? OK, ROTS wasn't so bad-- actually, it was pretty good, so I take that back. But at least with Shia LaBeouf, you have a young male lead who can ACT. (cough cough).

I don't need to be told IJ&CS is just a movie-- please. But I am looking forward to seeing it. And in Spielberg's hands, I think I'll get my $10 worth.
