Steve-O blames parents for starting his addictions

Published on March 20, 2008 at 6:01 PM

Troubled JACKASS star Steve-O has come out blaming his parents for his start with substance abuse. The stuntman claims his late mother, who was an alcoholic, and his father used to give him booze, so he wouldn’t cry on public transport. In his latest blog titled “You Should All Know I Am In Rehab,” from a Los Angeles hospital, where he has been placed on a 14-day hold while medics observe his condition and behavior, Here’s a summary of what Steve-O writes:

“We were frequently on airplanes mom and Dad would find themselves in the embarrassing position of being caught by other passengers with a crying baby, I was fed alcohol…. “I know I was always powerless over alcoholism, because it had such a grip on Mom’s adulthood and my childhood, and I never chose to fight it.”

The 33-year-old was hospitalised on March 9th, (08), after pals including his former Jackass co-star Johnny Knoxville “physically forced” him to seek help for his mental issues, including bipolar disorder that had left him suffering “high highs and extremely low lows”.

He ends his blog entry on a positive note saying:

I’m not ready to die. I’m ready to live. I’m ready to breathe (properly, even). I’m ready to fall in love. I’m ready
to become ready to start a family. I’m ready to be happy, fulfilled and meaningful. Maybe I’ll see you fukkers if and/or when I’m ready to die.”
