There were a few surprises on American Idol last night. Jim Carrey appeared on the show dressed as an elephant,to promote his new movie ‘Horton Hears A Who.’
Carrey, 46, revealed to he show’s host Ryan Seacrest that he is a big fan of the show, saying, “all the contestants are stars.”
Later in the show, Carrey was spotted singing along with the contestants who were covering Beatles songs for the elimination show.
Carrey even managed to sit with the contestants during the elimination process, and pretended to be in their shoes, causing laughs amongst the judges and the audience,
David Hernandez, 24, became the first finalist to get the boot on this season’s Idol after his rendition of, “I Saw Her Standing There” failed to arouse the judges. Joining David at the bottom three last night were Kristy Lee Cook, and Syesha Mercado.
Hernandez may have had the talent but not so shockingly, America just wasn’t ready to elect an Idol who used to spend his pre-fame time as a stripper at a club that was frequented mostly by men. Over the last few days, David has commented that he doesn’t want to make his personal life public just because he’s in this competition, so it should be interesting to see how he handles the flurry of required interviews that will transpire today. Don’t fre too much for David though his AI experience may have already guaranteed him a big record contract. Well-connected record industry sources revealed to TMZ the major publishers (including Sony and Warner) have already set their sights on both David Archuleta and David Hernandez more then a week ago. The record publishers have already told their songwriters to write songs specifically for both David’s, whether they win or not.
