The Military has decided to pull Prince Harry out of Afghanistan after details of his secret deployment were broadcast around the world. It was revealed last night that ehe 23-year-old Prince, a second lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry,  has spent the past 10 weeks in combat in the lawless Helmand province of the war-torn country.
 Military chiefs were today making final preparations to remove the prince from the front line and fly him back to Britain. a source has said.

“He has left the base and is en route to another location.”
 
He is expected back home by the end of the weekend after the logistics of transporting him out of the warzone are hammered out.

The move follows fears that Harry could become a target for Taliban fighters in the region now the news blackout on his deployment has been broken.  Harry hopes his mother, who was killed in a car crash in Paris, France, in 1997, would approve of his duty. He told the Press Association,

“Hopefully she would be proud. “She would be looking down having a giggle about the stupid things that I’ve been doing, like going left when I should have gone right, finding myself in an awkward position earlier today.” Harry adds his older brother Prince William is also lending his support: “(He) sent me a letter saying how proud he reckons that she would be.”

 Actress Natalie Portman of Star Wars fame, paid a visit to the Late Show With David Letterman last night. Promoting her newest movie, The Other Boleyn Girl, which hits theaters tomorrow, Natalie told Dave about a funny incident she had with a horse after she completed filming.  After mentioning how much horseback riding her character, Anne Boleyn, does in the movie, she said:
“I sort of realized that the horses were really well trained because I was really galloping and got really good. Then we finished the movie and I went on vacation to Kenya with my family and we got on horses and they asked me, ‘Can you ride?’ I was like, ‘Oh, yeah.’ They asked, ‘What can you do?’ ‘Oh, I gallop, I can do anything, really.’ I got on and immediately was tossed off the horse.”The audience had a big laugh, but Natalie seemed unfazed. She went on to say:
“Usually, they make you feel better. ‘That happens,’ or ‘That horse is kind of wild,’ but they were like, ‘That has never happened before.’ ”

It has been revealed that Prince Harry has been secretly fighting the Taliban on the frontline in Afghanistan. The 23-year-old Prince, is a second lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry, and third in line to the throne. The Prince has spent the last 10 weeks in the lawless Helmand province of the war-torn country.
He arrived in late December  and has been directly involved in gun battle.

The Palace and the Ministry of Defense in the U.K. had hoped to keep the mission secret in order to safeguard his life and those of his fellow soldiers. Army chiefs had managed to keep the prince shielded from media and had encouraged fellow soldiers in his squadron to keep quiet.
The story was originally broken by Matt Drudge. His Drudge Report website has built its reputation on breaking a string of stories - most famously the Monica Lewinsky scandal in 1998.
Soon after foreign outlets started reporting the story on Feb. 28 – including media in Australia and Germany and the officials moved to confirm the news.

Chief of the General Staff Sir Richard Dannatt, who is head of the British Army, said he was disappointed the news had leaked.

In a statement, he said: “I am very disappointed that foreign websites have decided to run this story without consulting us.”

The prince’s spokesman said in a statement: “Prince Harry is very proud to serve his country on operations alongside his fellow soldiers and to do the job he has been trained for.”

Federal drug authorities are investigating two doctors over the death of actor Heath Ledger, according to the Daily News. The doctors  one practicing in California, the other in Texas are believed to have supplied the late actor with the powerful painkillers Oxycontin,and Vicodin.  At issue is whether or not the powerful painkiller were prescribed legally. The revelation came more than a month after the 28-year-old Australian acror’s naked body was found in his SoHo loft. However, immediately following the actor’s death, DEA reportedly subpoenaed several documents from the NYPD and the Medical Examiner to try to determine exactly where Ledger got his cocktail of prescriptions that eventually caused his death.  A law enforcement source said: ”It’s an ongoing investigation,” . “It’s not clear if there was any wrongdoing.”

American Idol finalist, Amanda Overmyer’s apparent checkered past is coming back to haunt her.

The National Enquirer (via Showbiz Spy) reports that Mandy was arrested October 14, 2006 in Crawfordsville, Indiana for drunk driving. She also has a string of driving offenses including going 100mph in a 45mph zone and running a red light.

Mandy also admitted on the show that shortly after “Hollywood week” she got into a car accident with a semi-truck that left her with a cracked rib and a busted head.

Her 2006 mug shot above indicates she’s had the Bride of Frankenstein look going for quite a while.

Last night, Amanda killed the Kansas song “Carry On Wayward Son,” but no in a good way. So far no charges for the murdered song have been filed.

While things have been much quieter and smoother in the land of Britney Spears since Daddy took control, all is not totally well. Britney still is reportedly and lawfully considered quite unbalanced and she had a little scene recently that shows she’s still capable of some pretty off the wall behavior.  Gatecrasher reports that Britney strolled into the Betsey Johnson boutique on Melrose with a Dolce & Gabbana dress in hand. She told the sales staff she wanted them to copy the dress, but in all white and have it ready that night. A perplexed manager had to tell Brit that they don’t have a dressmaker on staff and cough, cough, that the dress doesn’t belong to them.
Undaunted Britney decided she wanted to buy something else. A source said, “The only thing she wanted to buy in the store was the yellow wig on a mannequin in the window.” The manager decided to sell it to her for $100.

We know that dad Jamie took the Pink wig away from Britney sometime ago so I think the new wig is just what she needs!  Nothing says crazy like a bright yellow wig.  Get well soon Britney.

 You would think a Hollywood studio would be in a big hurry to get a Colin Farrell and Edward Norton movie out to the theaters? But Pride and Glory, a movie about a family of New York police officers, which was shot in 2006 with a scheduled release date of March 14 this year, is sitting in moth balls.  A trailer (below) had already started screening when New Line pulled the film from its schedule, until, potentially, 2009. While the story isn’t an uncommon one in Hollywood, the open war by the stars gainst the studio is unusual.

During a press tour for his Sundance-screened movie ‘In Bruges’,  Colin Farrell said of the movie, “I feel the need to kind of speak up… It’s just a really, really strong piece, but I think New Line lost the bollocks on The Golden Compass, you know, love, and they literally don’t have enough money to market things.”

New Line had hoped that The Golden Compass, an adaptation of the His Dark Materials series, was their next Lord of the Rings-type franchise. But the film featuring Nicole Kidman cost New Line $180 million, only $70 million of which was earned back at the U.S. box office (though the international numbers were much better). New Line has also been in the press recently for protracted legal battles with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, as well as the J.R.R. Tolkien Estate.

The financial hit New Line took on The Golden Compass, perhaps has made them gun shy and the subject matter of Pride and Glory is said to be dark. Pride and Glory, Writer-director Gavin O’Conner is also weighing in. Variety reports today that he’s so upset about the film being delayed, he plans to withhold a script he owes the studio until the matter is resolved, or even explore the option of getting the rights to the film back from them. He’s even screened the film at CAA in the hopes of finding a buyer.

Gavin says of New Line’s CEO, “I don’t think Bob Shaye believes in it, and he’s decided he’ll only release [sure bet] films. He never had the decency to call me.”
Meanwhile Star Ed Norton told the trade, “I just hope they will either find a way to give the film its due or graciously let us do it with someone else,” and Colin added, “This is bizarre.”
