Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli, who cheated first?

When actress and Jenny Craig spokesmodel Valerie Bertinelli was married to rocker and guitar god Eddie Van Halen, I always assumed he had done her wrong.  Bertinelli and Van Halen finally divorced in December 2007  after they had been separated and living apart since October 2001, ending 26 years of marriage.

But now Bertinelli who is promoting her tell-all book, Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time, has broken her silence on the couple’s divorce, admitting they split because they were both unfaithful.  In an already taped interview with Oprah Winfrey set to air on TV on Monday, February 25, Bertinelli acknowledges that both she and guitar hero Van Halen are to blame for the marriage breakdown.

Bertinelli, 47, “I cheated. He claims to this day that I cheated first, but I don’t know. I don’t know about the timing.”

The couple’s son, 16-year-old Wolfgang, is currently on the road with his father’s reunited band, Van Halen, having replaced original bassist Michael Anthony.
