Sam Lufti hires publicist Michael Sands

Two desperate (pirate) ships in the night have found each other. Sam Lutfi has hired PR guru Michael Sands – just days after he quit as spokesman for the lawyer of the Britney Spears’s ex-husband Kevin FEDERLINE. Lutfi estranged manager of Britney Spears, hired the publicist in a desperate bid to rehabilitate his image as the troubled singer’s “saviour.”  Sands told reporters at a press conference last week the controversial figure is on a mission to “rescue Britney Spears”. Sands was quoted as saying, “We want to get her back onstage and doing the right thing. So I’m working with Sam to reinvent her image.” As the publicist for Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, Sands previously worked to damage Lutfi’s reputation – but agreed to become his rep after doing his own “research” and concluding “he’s squeaky-clean.” How nice for them!

Sam Lutfi is behind the filing this week of a strongly worded petition seeking to move the troubled singer’s custody and conservatorship cases from L.A. court to federal court.

“Sam is at war with Jamie. This is his first strike,” a Spears insider said Friday, explaining that Lutfi feels Britney’s rights were violated because court-appointed attorneys did not investigate the claims her family was making about her condition.

Lutfi’s new publicist, Michael Sands, who insists that the case has been transferred, filed the petition this week on behalf of New York attorney Jon Eardley, who is listed in the paperwork as Britney’s counsel.

However it still appears that Jamie Spears’ conservatorship over his daughter’s affairs are still being handled in the local court, contrary to reports that the case has been transferred to federal jurisdiction.

L.A. County Court system says even if the federal court has jurisdiction, they believe the conservatorship and all orders are still in effect, but no further orders can be made or modified unless and until a federal judge kicks it back to the state.

A misguided (in or opinion) Britney Spears is behind this attack. She spoke to Eardley before the petition was filed and is planning a new attack on her dad’s conservator status.

She has basically conveyed that she doesn’t want to be in her family’s control,” Sands said.

Legal experts say, however, that because Britney was previously found unfit to hire her own counsel, it’s unlikely that Eardley will be allowed to represent her, thereby making the petition to transfer the case invalid.

Criminal Investigation of Sam Lufti

Sam Lutfi who after two weeks has yet to be served with the restraining order Britney’s family obtained against him Feb. 1,is allegedly under investigation by the LAPD for allegedly drugging Britney Spears.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the Major Crimes Division of the LAPD is on the case. The conservators have complained that Lutfi drugged Spears as a way of keeping her under his control. We’re told the investigation is very much active.
