New Unauthorized Biography of “virtual recluse” Axl Rose

Author and music journalist Mick Wall has recently come out with the new book W.a.r.: The Unauthorized Biography of William Axl Rose. A colorful portrait of the charismatic and idiosyncratic leader of Guns n’ Roses. The book follows the turbulent life and career of Axl Rose, from his youth and the beginnings of the rock band Guns N’ Roses, to their rise to success, to the substance abuse and infighting that led to his split from the other original band members.
In years since, Axl Rose has become a “virtual recluse” in his Malibu mansion for the past 15 years, according to the author. Mick Wall reveals:
“These days he is regarded by some as almost a Howard Hughes figure, the bearded, sun-baked, wild-eyed
survivor.”
Rose’s long-awaited comeback album, “Chinese Democracy,” which has been postponed several times over the past 15 years, is in limbo and may never be released. Wall writes that Rose’s bandmate, Slash, is indifferent about his one-time pal — “Everybody keeps going on about reunion, but the truth is, [Axl] doesn’t want to see me any more than I want to see him,” Slash tells the author.
