Heather Mills prepares to sue and sue some more
Posted on February 5th, 2008 by Hot MommaThe litigious Heather Mills is at it again in a big way. Though still not-yet divorced from Paul McCartney, she has decided to sue her former attorneys, to whom she currently owes almost $4 million, for giving her “bad advice”.
Mills owes almost 20 months of unpaid legal bills to her divorce lawyers, Mischon de Reya, one of Britain’s top and most well-known divorce firms. The firm alleges Mills often refused to take their legal advice and therefore was her own worst enemy. But Mills has struck first even as insolvency lawyers at Mishcons prepare legal action in the next few weeks to try to recoup their fees.
Meanwhile Mills is also preparing to go to court for an intense, five day hearing, which will determine how much of Paul McCartney’s fortune, over $1.2 billion, she’ll carve into. Mills will now represent herself at the High Court hearing (so she has a fool for a client) since she has likely scared away anyone that would think of representing her. Sir Paul has already offered Mills close to $30 million for their 4 year marriage, but she’s not content with that amount.
Mills is asking for almost $100 million, ownership of several properties throughout Britain, and fighting against a confidentiality clause. Mills previously claimed in a divorce petition, subsequently leaked to newspapers, that Sir Paul was violent towards her on four occasions during their marriage, including stabbing her in the arm with a broken wine glass. A confidentiality clause would prevent Mills from disclosing further details officially and make it difficult to make a huge book deal she likely desires.
