Call me Sean “John” Combs

You can call me Sean, Puff, Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy no more! Sean “Diddy” Combs has asked to be freed from his latest nickname so he can go by his real name,  Sean John Combs.

“I have always evolved and taken a different name each time,” Diddy is quoted as saying.“It’s nothing unusual where I come from.“Right now I want to be Sean John because that’s where I am.”

His series of nicknames haven’t come without their problems.  Last year, courts upheld the right for London DJ/producer Richard “Diddy” Dearlove to use the name “Diddy” within the UK.  This is Combs fourth official stage name change,  from Puff Daddy to P Diddy in August 2005.  He later dropped the P and became Diddy, but is still widely referred to as P Diddy in the UK and New Zealand.  Sean’s latest fragrance will also have the title Sean John.
