Anyone follow This season’s ‘Amazing Race’?

I really enjoyed this season’s Amazing Race when I was able to watch. There really wasn’t a dominant team this year but lot’s of interesting couples as per usual. Rachel Rosales and TK Erwin, the hippie like couple from Huntington Beach, California somewhat surprisingly took home the $1 million grand prize during Sunday night’s finale of CBS’ The Amazing Race. It was one of those nice guys finish first scenarios.
The 12th installment wrapped up in Alaskan wilderness after the contestants hopped a flight in Taiwan bound for Anchorage.
The three pairs remaining for the final were the 23-year-old Rosales, a florist, and 22-year-old Erwin, a dreadlocked substitute teacher; father-daughter duo, Ronald and Christina Hsu; and grandfather-grandson tandem, Donald Jerousek and Nicholas Fulks.
The final challenge, solving a complex Road Block puzzle in which they had to use their memories and painstakingly place a souvenir from each city they visited during their whirlwind trek in a specific order was I think new to the show and I really liked it as the difference maker in the race.
The Hsus had a comfortable lead going into the puzzle, but Christina struggled, allowing the other teams to catch up. Rosales managed to decipher the brainteaser first and she and Erwin outsprinted the Hsus to the final finish line, where they were congratulated by all the eliminated teams. Kudos to dad Ron Hsus who really seemed to change himself from a ranting overly critical man to a supportive father to daughter Christina, when everything was on the line and most stressful.
Kudos also to Jerousek, at 69, was the oldest Amazing Race competitor ever to cross the finish line.
This season’s road saw racers traveling across the green hills of Ireland, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Croatia as well as visit such far-flung places as the African village of Burkina Faso, India, Japan, and Taiwan. I did notice this year that the teams were not put in cars as much to navigate on their own as in previous races. I think it’s a big part of a race like this and would be good to add back.

Thank you for sharing this last show. I have watched every one but missed the last one. Congradulations to this terrific coule who always seemed to appreciate the experience and kept their respect for each other intact. A lesson for us all in “winning” the race.
