Gabrielle Reece and Laird Hamilton welcome “New Year’s” baby son

Surfer dude Laird Hamilton, 43, and volleyball goddess wife Gabrielle Reece, 37, welcomed their second child together. The New Year’s baby born on Tuesday, January 1st in Hawaii was a boy. Son Brody Jo weighed in at 8 lbs, 2 oz, and joins older sisters Reece Viola, 4, and Izabella, 12, Laird’s daughter from his first marriage.

Gabrielle had announced the pregnancy in June, on the Today show for which she’s also a special correspondent, saying that her due date was January 2nd. Laird revealed that they do not find out the sex of their children prior to delivery:

“It’s probably the single greatest surprise we have in our lives, and to find out early for whatever reason — justifying the color of a bedroom or something — to me is kind of lame.”

Nonetheless, Brody had his name chosen back in August — Laird mentioned at the time how much Gabby liked the name. While she was expecting, Gabby posed for the December issue of Pregnancy.  Reece, stayed in top shape during her second pregnancy by playing competitive beach volleyball last summer and swimming.
