Kiefer Sutherland star of the hit TV series 24, has surrendered himself at the Glendale City Jail, where he will serve 48 days in jail for his DUI conviction. This happened at 5:30 pm on Wednesday evening. Kiefer underwent the same protocol as every ordinary citizen. He was searched, had his mug shot taken and placed in a holding cell until his permanent one was assigned. The Glendale Police Chief, Randy Adams, said that Kiefer would be having his own cell although double sharing was the norm for short term inmates. He also said that Kiefer will be assigned laundry and kitchen work and be treated like the rest of the inmates. Kiefer asked to start his prison sentence earlier to take advantage of the fact that his show was still on hiatus due to the striking writers. He would be in prison for his birthday on Dec. 21 and celebrate Christmas, New Year and be there all the way until the 48 days are over. Sutherland, 40, was also ordered to spend five years on probation and to complete an 18-month alcohol education program and six months of weekly therapy sessions. He was fined $510
