Actress Eva Mendes was in New York for the 7th Annual Aid for AIDS My Hero Award and Gala at Capitale (see pictures below).  The event honors “outstanding individuals and organizations who have made and continue to make a monumental impact on the fight against HIV/AIDS”. Eva, wearing a purple dress, has had a busy week as earlier she was launching her new Campari calendar.

In other perhaps juicier Eva Mendes news, she has instructed her relatives to arrive 15 minutes late for her new movie ‘We Are the Night’ so they won’t see her first explicit sex scene. Mendes gets it on with her co-star Joaquin Phoenix in the new film and the 33-year-old didn’t realize just how explicit the scene was until she saw it for herself.

Supposedly there’s an interesting little feud brewing between co-stars Eva Mendes and Joaquin Phoenix. It’s rumored that the two didn’t get along on the set of, ‘We Are the Night’, and recently Eva told a reporter that filming with Joaquin was “like working with a puppy dog or a 2-year-old.” Joaquin apparently was quite insulted by the quote. He responded, “My apologies, Eva, but I had a few scenes that you weren’t in.
