Giada De Laurentiis is pregnant

I know I am late to the party on this one but I think it’s still worth mentioning.  The lovely Food Network star and host of “Everyday Italian”,  shared on the “Today” show that she recently discovered she was with child (a girl).

“When I found out I was pregnant I was in complete shock,” she admitted on the Monday, Nov. 5 show. “I truly didn’t believe it. I honestly thought, ‘there has got to be a mistake.’”

The 37-year-old, who is due in April, described her growing realization about her pregnancy in terms of food when viewing her sonograms: first a “lima bean,” then a “lemon.”

This will be the first child for De Laurentiis and her husband, Todd Thompson, who is a clothing designer for the Anthropologie fashion company. The two first began dating in 1991 and wed in 2003. They live in Los Angeles, where “Everyday Italian” is shot.

De Laurentiis, 37, is also the star of Food Network’s “Behind the Bash,” “Giada’s Weekend Getaways” and “Giada in Paradise.” She’s also a frequent contributor on NBC’s “Today.”

She also comes from great breeding, as the granddaughter of legendary film producer Dino De Laurentiis and Italian film star Silvana Mangano. Her mother is actress Veronica De Laurentiis and actor-producer Alex De Benedetti.
