Gisele Bundchen Speaks Out Against Catholic Church’s Contraception Views

Last month, Pope Benedict XVI criticized abortion laws and birth control during a five-day visit to Brazil, the country with the most Roman Catholics in the world. In an interview with Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, Gisele said “today no one is a virgin when they get married … show me someone who’s a virgin!” It’s ridiculous to ban contraceptives — you only have to think of the diseases that are transmitted without them…How is it possible to not want people to use condoms and also not have abortions? It’s impossible, I’m sorry.”

Brazil bans most types of abortions, but the government gives out over 300 million free condoms annually to prevent AIDS and unwanted pregnancies.
