Who Wears A Hat On Airplanes?
Posted on March 9th, 2007 by EllenMy grandfather always complains that back in the day people used to dress right to travel on planes. When flying was still a novelty and a special treat, suits were de rigeur and women wore their nice skirts — which probably didn’t make them comfortable, but the flights were probably too scary to make that happen anyway. If Lindsay Lohan is trying to bring the old-world glamour back to flying, I think she is starting with the wrong piece:

Now I know we Americans have a long way to go as far as dressing up is concerned. When I lived abroad, I was just as guilty with my jeans and flip-flops. But who would want to wear a hat for a whole flight? And what do you do with it if you aren’t wearing it? Do you set it decorously on your lap and try not to fidget and squash it? And if the hat is meant to hide her new ‘do… well, we can still see it.

Oh, don’t be glum, chum! Your new hair looks great, you’re out of rehab and you were not photographed with your boyfriend’s hand in your swimsuit this week. Things aren’t so bad!

That’s better! Just beware Dragon Nails in the lower left hand corner there.
