Britney’s New Rehab Buddy: Eddie Van Halen

This probably won’t take much of the heat off Ms. Spears, but Eddie Van Halen announced he’s off to rehab for alcohol abuse — and his timing couldn’t have been worse, as the band Van Halen is getting inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame on Monday. Check out this quote from Eddie’s statement:
I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.
Taking responsibility for himself?! Isn’t he a rock star?
Now I admit that when I first read the news, I thought, “But hasn’t Eddie already been to rehab? He’s been a working rock star for a long time!” I couldn’t find any mention of prior problems on Wikipedia, but this piece quotes a Rolling Stone interview in which Van Halen said he had been in rehab twice before and had gotten a DUI after attending an AA meeting.
