Hot Read of the Week: Suzanne Hansen, Youll Never Nanny In This Town Again

Who are the real mommas of Hollywood? More often than not, it’s the nannies that are raising the kids you see in the pages of “US Weekly” and in those mom-kid “Got Milk?” ads. Sure, nothing can replace a hot momma’s love… but who’s in the trenches changing diapers and quashing tantrums?

That’s why You’ll Never Nanny In This Town Again is such a dish. Suzanne Hansen spends three months in nanny school in her home state of Oregon before she’s catapulted into the life of a high-powered L.A. family as the 24/7 nanny to the children of then-Disney exec Michael Ovitz. Famous for his tyrannical office dealings and his lifelong grudges, Michael is always in the back of Suzanne’s mind, even as she takes care of his three kids (including a baby who gets more attached to her than to his mom) according to the unspoken instructions of his picky wife. When she just can’t take it any more, Michael does his best to make sure she doesn’t get any more celebrity gigs. Luckily, Suzanne finds some much nicer employers, like Debra Winger and Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman (seen above at Sundance this year) but she learns that being a Hollywood nanny is not all fun and games.
