I don't like that she has so much influence, just because she is a celebrity, I don't agree w/that at all. I lived in Africa for five years, my personal feelings are that one adoption isn't going to make a difference - though it does bring awareness. There is just so much more which NEEDS to be done for the world's children (I'm adpoted from the Philipines - I'm pretty sure if my folks hadn't adpoted me, I'd be dead now) I think adoptions like this do a diservice to couples struggling for years to make an adoption happen. And I agree...in a sense..it's hard to make a difference by adopting one...it makes my heart hurt to think of all those left behind waving goodbye you know? I wish more could be done in their country. My brother is over there doing humanitarian work right now and it's just devastating over there- so much worse than what we see on TV...
