Britney had preclampsia…
Posted on September 12th, 2006 by Hot Momma
Yesterday’s early morning birth of Britney Spears’ second son came after the singer was found to be suffering from a potentially dangerous condition In Touch has learned exclusively.
Husband Kevin Federline rushed Britney, 24, to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the birth because she was suffering from preeclampsia, a condition marked by high blood pressure. It normally strikes in the late stages of pregnancy. “The delivery was not planned,” a family insider tells In Touch. “It became urgent. Britney and Kevin did not want to take any chances.”
Doctors say the only cure for the condition - also known as toxemia - is to deliver the baby, and the blood pressure will normally go down.
Britney had intended to have a C-section later this month, adds the insider, but her condition became too acute. “She had a bad case and it became dangerous, but mother and baby are doing well.”

That makes more sense than planning to have the baby before she even celebrates her son’s first birthday.
aww poor thing, that must have been scary….i hope all is well for her and her family.
I am glad that she is okay. That would be super scary!
Wow, That’s scary, I’m happy she and the baby are OK!!
i agree with anon 9:05.
it seemed weird to me, but that seems to explain things.
glad they’re doing well.
Definitely is scary. My son was born 3 weeks early because I had pre-eclampsia. My doctor said if it got any worse, my kidneys could have failed. I’m glad to hear they are both OK.
that’s terrible. does preclampsia cause you to bloat all over like to where you become almost unrecognizable?
Oh, pulease. Pre-Eclampsia doesn’t cause for emergency childbirth. I had pre-eclampsia and it was no biggie at all. Just a lot of monitering the last few weeks. An emergency C-section for Pre-E? Doubt it.
I did bloat with Pre-E (gain 60 pounds and 45 of it in the last 6 weeks) but if she had pre-eclampsia she wouldn’t be shuffling around L.A. in boxer shorts. Bitch would be in bed.
pre-eclampsia can be very dangerous. My son was born over a month early because my blood pressure got so high. It is very serious and also quite common.
girl’s gone child is so right,I had it with both and I was in bed for 6 weeks before,I couldn’t move if I wanted to.She would have been way bigger all over to i.e:her feet and legs would have looked massive in every pic!I figure this is just another story to try to explain something else when really why does she care?it’s no one’s business really just stop making up bogus stories already!
its ludacrous to think she made this up…what purpose would it serve? geez, people are ridiculous sometimes. it is quite common and perfectly possible.
This is one of the wrost pics of Britney I have ever seen! The reflection of the tree in the windshield looks like her hair, and the shirt she’s wearing makes it looks like she has tatoos all over her arms. She kind of looks like a washed up Elvis in this picture, lol.
Oh, and one more thing… I don’t know if the car is moving or what, but once again we see Sean Preston NOT in his carseat! *rolling eyes*
Anon 8:41. See how the carseat is just to her left and Sean Preston has a blanket over his little head?? Looks like she just got in the car after desperatly trying to keep her son away from the paparazzi and she’s just about to put him in his seat… but way to just assume things!!
Poor girl never gets a break.. even when she just had to move up her c-section date due to pre-e. I’m sure it wasn’t an emergency c-section, but the date just had to be moved up for the saftey of both baby and momma, which is the most important thing anyways!
I say congatulations to her and her family for their new addition. I hope everyone is doing well and that Brit has a wonderful recovery!!!!
“Oh, pulease. Pre-Eclampsia doesn’t cause for emergency childbirth”
Untrue. As an OB nurse, I can tell you this: The only ‘cure’ for pre-eclampsia is childbirth. There are different levels of pre-eclampsia. Some people have mild pre-eclampsia (slightly elevated BP/protein levels) and others have severe pre-eclampsia, where the BP is dangerously high and the kidneys cannot process the amount of protein in the urine, which could lead to kidney failure. The condition can develop essentially overnight. And if it is severe and left untreated, one could have seizures. She was so close to her due date that her doctor probably felt it would be OK to just deliver the baby instead of putting her on bedrest. Makes sense to me.
Yes pre-e can come on overnight. Mine did and it was so serious that even complete bedrest wouldn’t bring my blood pressure down. I think that maybe some people may have a mild case like girls gone child says but others may have a very serious case like it seems britney may have had. Yes her photo looks like crap. If I was her mine would’ve too. A baby, a crappy husband, and a scary sickness (by the way it does cause lots of water weight). I am actually proud of her for being such a hands on mom. There are many celebs out there who would’ve passed there kids on to a nanny full-time by now.
I had preeclampsia with my twins. I gained 100 pounds… guess what! I was not given a c-section until my 40 weeks and I was still not in labor. My bloodpressure was so high I have no idea how I delivered 2 healthy babies! Let me just add- I gave birth in the military (Eglin AFB)they didn’t give a crap bout me or my babies as I am no celeb!
Must be nice to give birth for a planned c-section at 2am, I had to be on a waiting list for my c-section.
10:09 I agree with you. MAJOR props to this girl for being involved with her kids’ life.
People really need to stop judging this girl.
So I just heard the baby’s name is “Sutton Pierce”. Ick. Anyone else heard this?
Those of you who were LUCKY enough to not had to be forced to deliver early, you better thank your lucky stars! PRE-E IS A SERIOUS CONDITION! Those of you that feel that since you did not have to deliver early, than no one else would have to either are really uninformed! Talk to a friend of mine. She lost her Baby and almost her life. But I am sure she just made it up…right? I mean, pre-e is no biggie, right? What a bunch a self centered people. Your experiences are not the be all and end all. Get a good OB/GYN before you get pregnant again. If your OB/GYN did not tell you how serious pre-e is, than you were greatly dis-serviced!!!
REAL pre-eclampsia IS a big deal and serious.. GGC There is a difference between monitoring for high blood pressure and being at risk and actually having pre-clampsia. It sounds like you were in danger for it and being watched. I had an emeregency c-section also due to pre-eclampsia my blood pressure was high and I was spilling protein I was AT HIGH RISK. At 36 weeks I started seeing spots called the Dr my BP was 165/105 they sent me directly to labor and delivery and as they began the induction my blood pressure started to rise so fast they sectioned me rather than let it get higher while I was trying to deliver this all happened within 4 hours…. I was at risk for stroke and seizure…
For people who don’t know, this is an old pic of Britney, it was taken earlier this year. I’m glad that Britney and her child are doing well, i’m so curious to know what the name is.
