i still love her. yes she didnt look her best, but she made some valid points. and the pictures of the actual paparazi approaching her shines new light on what its actually like. they are getting way too close.

theres no use being mean to her either. some people are just unattractive when pregnant. they give up on sitting in a chair primping for 2 hours.

and the outfit was kind of cute when she was standing up…sorry

I was also super annoyed with her repeated use of “finger air quotes” (I think she did it 11 times) and her dumb pouty baby face sticking her bottom lip out… wah wah.

I think she said it best when she said she just doesn’t care what people think of her. But, for Britney, that is super unfortunate because she got famous because she was cute and fresh faced and sexy, not because she was some awesome singer. If she gives up on even trying (which she clearly has), she can kiss her career and her fan base bye-bye.

Didn’t you just want to wash her face, brush her hair and start over?

She is still Hot, leave her the fuck alone, she’s a great mother.

It’s over. I can officially say it’s over with Britney Spears. It’s sad. I’ve never seen a celebrity look like that in a million years - except Courtney Love. I was just in shock the entire interview. Absolute shock. And you know, it may be different if it’s once or twice, but for over a year and a half? I never thought I would see Britney Spears like that.

I remember when a radio station did research and found how much money it would take to make the average woman look like Britney Spears… everyone envied her.

It’s sad to think the end of an era is officially over. If we leave her alone, maybe eventually she’ll come back. Hopefully.

I actually got a little teary-eyed when she got so upset (although I blame it on PMS). One more thing that got to me is how she compared herself to Jessica, Goldie, and Julia. Julia Roberts? Come on! I loved how Matt brought up how people have started to use her roots in a negative tone, aka redneck and how she was totally supporting that last night. I wanted to put a wastebasket in front of her for her to spit out the gum, give her a rubberband to pull her hair up with, and give her a tissue to blot her face with to ease the shine! I mean I had to tape Making the Band 3 for that!! I also loved the brief clip of K-Fed on Access Hollywood. What a loser….you think he really pulls his weight? Yeah.

I SO AGREE WITH THOSE POINTS!!! I was sitting next to my male co-worker and he was saying the EXACT same thing. This girl really is an emotional wreck!!! THAT GUM…UGG!

the only thing 2 things that i thought where in really poor taste where her chewing gum (which was really offensive) and the fact that her nips where about 2 seconds away from popping out. the skirt could have been longer too but i just wanted to pull her shirt up the entire interview.

at the same time i feel for her. how many of us have had 70 strangers surround our car with our first baby banging on the windows and completely suffocating you? yes, there is no doubt it was dangerous, but any mothers’ first instinct would be to want their baby in their arms and to leave the situation. none of us have ANY idea how that feels. yes it was a poor choice but we all make poor choices when we’re scared or feel threatened. and why shouldnt she wear curlers in her hair to run out? i agreed with her there- after all of these years of this type of intrusion i think i would also become numb to it and not give a crap. at least she put her career on hold for her children- not many other hollywood moms are seen with their child so much or have *gasp* acted so unselfishly for the benefit of their kids in terms of their careers. its not like she didnt have the money to just hand the kid to a nanny, hit the gym and go back on tour like most others do.

yes shes not the most articulate and she wasnt tastefully dressed, but she deserves safety, a certain degree of privacy and a little respect for that fact that she is a human and she does care for her family.

I agree that she is unnecessarily harrassed by the papparazzi and the tabloids have said things about her that are not only nasty but probably aren’t true.

BUT… BUT… BUT…

Please, Britney, you were on a national TV show. Three times (twice on the Today show, and one entire hour of Dateline), and you LOOKED LIKE THAT? Forget about the nasty hair, but what about the outfit? I don’t care how young she is, or how proud she is of her pregnant state. She looked like CRAP! She looked like trash! Could that have been a more unflattering shirt?

And your gum chewing? During an interview? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? No class, Brit. No class.

I also don’t believe Brit when she says she just doesn’t care what people think of her. If that was true, why did you go on a national TV show to tell people to leave you alone, to give you some privacy? Why did you cry about it? You do care what people think or else you wouldn’t have bothered to address the situation. If you’re having a problem with the paparazzi hounding you, work with the police and security consultants. Going on TV is not going to address or resolve the problem.

And my god, she used to look adorable and hot. What a shame.

Did anyone else notice her nail polish that looks like a 3 year old did it? I mean my husband painted my TOE nails when I was pregnant cuz I couldn’t reach them…but not my FINGER nails….ewww

OH, and I LOVED how Matt asked her what she sees in him!!! And her answer was “he’s simple….he’s like a little boy!”……WOW BRITNEY!YOU STILL DO HAVE A TOUCH OF REALITY…LOL

You know that when she sees those pictures of how she used to be she doesn’t have regrets of putting on weight….WE ALL DO!! I look back at pre-preggo pics and think, wow to look that way again. I hope she will watch this interview and realize how bad she really looks. There was no effort put into that.

The one thing that bothered me was the dollar store PINK blush she had and the clumpy mascara.

The hair and the make-up did me in. And her boobs, oh Lord her boobs. They looked so painful. I wonder how hard it was for Matt Lauer to keep his eyes above her chest. What an eye sore!!!

I say she moved to a ranch in montana and gets the heck out of dodge, she needs to get out of the lime light and get her act together with Kevin or not.

I did agree though that the paparazzi does compeltely invade her privacy. I couldn’t imagine trying to walk and paparazzi are 2 feet in front of you taking a picture….CRAZY and yes I am sure they snap the best pictures to tell the best lies. when you are of celeb status you have to be on your best behavior and present yourself in the best way or yes everyone is going to talk.

Hubby and I watched it and couldn’t believe how horrible she looked. They kept showing old clips of her and she was so cute. She has endless resources. There is NO excuse for showing up at an interview in a barely long enough skirt, a way too small top and obviously fake hair extensions and that GUM. How tacky. Couldn’t she have chewed it with her mouth closed? Wasn’t she taught any manners when she was younger??? She was supposed to be “causal” but the heavy makeup didn’t mesh with that. She looked like she was about to go on stage with the Pussy Cat Dolls. NOT a good look for a pregnant woman.

I get that she’s sick of the papparazi, but she invited them into her life when she turned her home movies into a TV show and she had no problem with them until they started showing her in a negative light. If she had admitted wrong in the SPF driving on her lap incident I might have had more sympathy for her, but her lame excuse really angered me. I also rolled my eyes when she accused doctors of being mean to her and then refused to explain exactly what happened.

She’s a train wreck. She admitted she is an emotional wreck and then quickly tried to cover it up. I don’t think she wanted to let that slip out.

anon 2:43 she didnt go on tv because she cares about what everyone thinks, she decided it was her turn to tell her side of all the stories- the truth side of things, whether you want to believe it or not. there is only so long that a person can put up with the abuse she has. when people are questioning your marriage and your relationship with your child you are going to want to defend yourself, not because she cares about what others think but because like she said- “im a mother, i need to do this”. she never defended herself before, it was time.

yes, the interview last night was a train wreck in terms of what she wore, her gum and her hair etc etc etc- who the hell cares. she basically takes her life into her hands everytime she leaves the house (its not safe to have 50 people following you in your car everywhere you go 24 hours a day) not to mention with any other human being on earth what she goes through would be considered stalking and illegal.

im pretty sure anyone, especially a mother, would eventually want to defend her family when people where incessantly lying about her to the world. her tears where because she doesnt feel safe anymore and regardles of how crappy she looked or how famous she is, it isnt right.

anon 3:08 when was the last time the paparazzi showed her in a positive light? i dont remember that EVER being the case. shes been abused for years. its about time she spoke up with herself. oh yeah and ironic that we bring up class, because a woman with class doesnt pick on other woman for the way they look- thats catty and just plain mean.

it is kind of scary for me to read these comments. this girl was practically crying for her life/safety last night and all you can talk about is her awful outfit/hair/makeup. wow maybe i dont want to be included with the group of people who read this site. yikes.

Well, I feel sorry for her in a way, but I also feel that if she hadn’t made her life so public in the past, perhaps she wouldn’t be dealing with this now. AND YES, she has invited the paparazzi in. She’s posed for them, she’s released home movies to make money, she’s stood on a hotel balcony grabbing her husbands crotch.

She did this interview to show the world that she doesn’t care what we think and that she’s a good mom and a good person. Fine. I am sure she loves SPF more than anyone else in the world. She would have been more credible and I think people would have been more sympathetic to her if she’d dressed appropriately. There is nothing wrong in saying that. She looked like she should be spending the day at the beach, NOT having a serious interview to try and set the record straight.

Anon 3:18..perhaps some of us are commenting on how she looks because we can’t believe how different she looks now. She was adorable a few years ago. Fresh faced and well dressed. Pregnancy isn’t a death sentance. People get pregnant everyday and manage to make themselves look presentable. She’s got endless resources. She could be the envy of pregnant women everywhere!

some people have bad taste in clothes- i.e. lindsay lohan, kimberly stewart, paris hilton, courtney love the list goes on, but none of them get trash talked to the same degree. the media doesnt like when your not stick thin and “hot” so they crucify you. i doubt we would even know this much about her (at least to this degree) if she was still thin. its such an ugly world we live in that you cant even discuss your personal fears, safety issues or concerns for your family without people being like “wow, that is like a totally ugly outfit.” im not saying that what she was wearing wasnt innappropriate- but its a shame that all of the important reasons she did this interview for where lost on a lot of ignorant people who couldnt get passed the way she was dressed.

Either way I feel sorry for her.
Sadly she’s let herself go.
Sure being pregnant can make up SOME of the issues, but not ALL the issues.

But I do think the Media has gone a little to far with her.
She needs to start coming back at thme.
They hover over her car, why not put the cover up?
They crowd around her with her son, she shoudl place her son in someone else’s arms, and then turn around and verbally tell the press off.

They need to leave her alone. Period.
If she’s this much a wreck, they could possibly cause her problems in this pregnancy.

Respect, granted it appears she lost it for herself, sadly.

Britney, stay out of the limelight for the remainder of your pregnancy.

anon 3:45 i guess by appropriate you mean the school girl outfit she wore in her first video or the “naked” outfit she wore on the MTV VMAs in 2000 or maybe it was the completely see-through lace dress she wore with her puppy. no, we are attacking her now b/c shes not “hot” anymore. it really doesnt have anything to do with appropriateness. and i thought dateline was a credible news show, dont they have someone running around with a hair brush or perhaps a different shirt? they are producing the show, they knew damn well she didnt look right yet they continued too. where’s their criticism for producing a show on prime time and allowing her to wear that outfit? how credible is that show now? i know for sure oprah wouldnt have let that fly on her show.

It looked like she has developed pregnancy mask around her mouth. Maybe that’s why she had heavy make up on. That still doesn’t explain the clumpy eye make up:)

Her make-up & hair were pretty bad. I agree with Anon 9:57 about her clothes. When they were in the backyard standing the outfit was cute.

I still have a lot of love for her & wish the best. Somethings she said I did scoff at. I won’t lie. The puppy face she was making everytime they talked about Kevin was getting old real fast.

I do feel for her very much though. People do make mistakes. I’m not saying driving with Sean the way she did was OK, but mistakes happen. She is a human trying to have a family. We should step off. She’s a train wreck right now & we have to admit that we’re not helping her.

Britney (and other stars) can’t whine about the paparazzi. It’s a trade off. Part of being a celebrity is not having a private life when out in public. They can’t actually think that they should get paid millions upon millions of dollars because their worth it?

The only thing the interview solidified is that she’s as dumb as a stump.

if she is that damn concerned for her safety then hire a driver to drive you and your kid around. hire body guards and move out of LA! There is no reason for her to be there! She is not doing anything with her career so move out of the spotlight!

She brings all the drama upon herself and there is no reason to feel sorry for her!

i was never a fan of britney spears … in my opinion she only ever was a sex symbol bc of her stylists and her voice is sub par compared to other artists … however, with her being in the tabloids recently, i must say, i felt for her.

i’m sure many new mothers make mistakes but to have papparazzi hounding you constantly catching your every false move would be overwhelming. now i agree that the baby in the lap was very very wrong but when she TRIPPED from walking thru a crowd of cameras, what is the big deal?

i will say this again, i am NOT a fan, i never have been but to me, britney has lost it. i watched most of the interview last night and yes, i will agree with the majority of EVERYONE, she looked terrible. she invited them into her home for an interview. she may not care what america thinks about her (then why schedule a nationally televised interview? but that’s besides the point) but it’s called decency and self respect. her hair was unkempt and her clothes were a bad call. i won’t comment on her makeup bc that is a much smaller issue. the chewing gum was tacky. from the beginning i have said she was nothing by a white trash country girl and it seems that the sexy performer that everyone fell in love with, was just an act (like i said all along). i cannot stand fake people in general. be real, britney. aside from my dislike of her as a person, i do feel that she is being too harshly criticized.

she is pregnant so obviously she is heavier but … she could have found something more flattering. i’m not superficial and i didn’t expect her to look sexy but … i’ve seen her looking better in photos of her walking down the street than she did for this nationally broadcasted interview.

i’m not bashing her. i used to but now i sympathize. it seems to have gone down hill after kevin but it’s her decision and i know it was hard enough having just my family and friends criticize my relationships … i can’t imagine trying to defend myself to america. they her decisions and she has to live with them.

i wholeheartedly agree that the papparazzi has become an increasing danger to celebrities. although it may not be a physical threat, many people in the public eye are going to feel scared and violated. aside from the papparazzi going too far especially when celebrities’ children are in the mix, the only thing i can say is … she IS a celebrity. that was her decision. she chose this lifestyle. only a year or 2 ago she had a reality show! c’mon now. she was promoting herself all over and now she wants privacy. make up your mind.

britney needs to go into seclusion for a while and sort out her issues. from the way she acted in the interview, she isn’t all there. she needs to learn how to act in the public eye again and she needs to get her shit together and then maybe america can see past this or else we’re gonna have another anna nicole in our midsts…

She said herself that she is sick and tired of people telling her what to do and how to act. That’s why she got married the first time. She’s rebelling against everyone who controlled her life in the past. He mother, her stylists, her PR team. I bet she didn’t use any of them for this interview. That’s why she looked the way she did. She’s still young and there is time for her to get over this thing and move on. I truly think her marriage is bad for her. She’s beginning to look and act like her husband. I don’t care what she said in the interview, I don’t think she is happy in her marriage. She’s an emotional wreck and she doesn’t have the sparkle that she used to have. She could prove me wrong, but I just don’t see this marriage going the distance. She needs to take some time off, get her head figured out, disapear from the public eye for a while and then try and reinvent her career.

Aside from the constant pleas for respect, which she obviously dressed and acted in a way that deserved such (not!), where is the grown woman admitting for once that she’s made mistakes? Instead, she sounds like a spoiled child (Julia Roberts did it), a wanna be (Goldie Hawn did it), etc. etc. How presumptuous of her to compare her situation to Julia and Goldie…not even close to the same class of people, in either case. Granted, the paparazzi seem to have become an annoying maybe even dangerous presence in her life…but once you allow them in behind the curtain, what can you expect? And if she continues to make mistakes with her children that we see, Lord only knows what she does behind the scenes. Any woman who has been pregnant has had to deal with the changes in her body and learn to adjust to a new way of life, and one of the first things that happens is that you want your children to emulate you in a good way…Britney has always made it clear that she doesn’t care about the impact her influence has on the younger crowd that have looked up to her, but maybe by the time child number two arrives, she will consider the impact she will have on her own before it’s too late. We all have to live and learn, perhaps she can find a way to do that without the constant scrutiny and invasion into her private life…she certainly has resources most of us can only dream of…

I’m sorry, Britney’s an idiot. She goes around complaining about the papparazzi(sp?) yet she lives in Los Angeles and works in the entertainment industry. I’m sorry, that’s the price you pay for making millions of dollars off of the public. Hollywood has been around for what about ninety years or so and the relationship it has with the press is very important. Do I think the paps go too far sometimes? Yes. Am I going to try to get into an industry where my privacy is going to be in jeapordy if I want my life to stay private? NO. As a person in the television journalism field,I can tell you that the show can provide a makeup/hair person to the person being interviewed, but most of the time celebrities bring their own people. It’s the person who’s being interviewd’s choice as to whether they are going to provide their own or if they want the show to provide them with help.

thank goodness, i live in germany now and missed it. but then, again, i wouldn’t watch it anyway. all i can say is - she can cry all she wants but she made her bed, now she has to lie in it.

I got the feeling that she purposely dressed down because she wanted to invoke sympathy. Which is the entire reason she invited the press in. Britney has been a Media Manipulator from the beginning. From the Schoolgirl outfit, the Rolling Stone cover, the Chaotic crappy show, the declarations that she was not a smoker (when she clearly was) that she was a virgin. ok so she’s not the best make up artist,and she hasnt got the greatest fashion sense, but she is not promoting her album, she was being honest and this is what she’d normally wear so let her wear it let her show the world who she is when she is not being controlled by a posse of designers and hair and makeup people, Its good to see she has her own mind, unlike many celebrities.
