YES! He ’specially needs to get booted off of American Idol. However, according to DialIdol…looks like we are stuck with him ANOTHER week. Oh..and it’s clear proof tha the average TV watching American has no freaking clue what sells at the record stores. The 40 and 50 year olds who are voting for him don’t own an iPod..they don’t buy CDs..they just sit around and listen to their Joe Cocker vinyl records and 8 tracks talking about the good ol days…UGHHHHH! It’s soo frustrating! |

hotmomma you are so right on. taylor is NOT a pop star which is what this competition is all about right? if AI is going to switch to gray haired men who look to be about in their 50’s they can say goodbye to their ratings. some may like him but hes not what the show is for.
You certainly have insulted your readers, you evidentally don’t care to lose your over-40 readers that are too old or stupid to use ipods, buy CDs, etc. I am a computer programmer and considered myself fairly intelligent, but I guess I will stay away from your site and find me a site more suited to us old farts.
I agree…Taylor doesn’t have a strong voice and he doesn’t even compare to the other idols that have won in the past seasons.

I agree. Definitely insulting. We all have our opinions, and that’s totally cool. But when you start knocking the people who read your site, that’s not so cool. See what I’m saying? Hey, life goes on and it’s all good. But I’m 30 something, and I felt a tiny little twinge of “Hey…not nice.” But I got over it.

I vote for Taylor and I have an iPod, a digital camera, buy CD’s, have a pink Razr phone, a PalmPilot, Sirius radio…all the silly high tech/hip gadgets that I don’t really think you need me to keep naming. So if you want to tease Taylor fans, you’ll have to find another excuse besides 8 tracks HotMomma.

The only people who have the right to be offended are those that fit my description exactly. So if you are indeed 40-50s and actually buy CDs and contribute to pop culture…don’t worry about it..I wasn’t talking about you. I’m just ranting because in my opinion the same people who are voting for Taylor Hicks are the same ones who voted for Rueben Studdard..and his sales paled in comparison to Clay’s..becaues Reuben’s audience was NOT of the record buying public. Anon 4:27 No offense taken. But then again it takes a lot to offend me. Your statment (or example) is your view. I don’t personally agree with it..and that’s okay. For the same reason I allow anonymous comments on my site…people are entitled to their own views…it is the beauty of blogging.

Just my 2c on Taylor….I think AI finally has the chance to crown a real artist, not just a singer, as the winner. I see a lot of kids on forums who don’t realize that there is a music world outside of MTV, get my drift?
Take a look at the pop explosion about 5 years back, yeah they made a lot of money right off the bat, but most of those acts are no where to be found now. At the same time there are acts that aren’t mainstream, flying *ahem* Under The Radar (no pun intended!) that don’t go 10x platinum but have longevity. Taylor is that type of artist, Ace is the former, Chris could possibly be the latter with Fuel.
Anways, I didnt mean to start anything up here again, but I just really wanted to say that about the whole potential sales/marketability thing! And Taylor was really good on the last episode, you may have even enjoyed him!
And I can’t stand Ruben.
As a mom with a child that has special needs, I am deeply offended that you would use something that my child and millions out there cannot control to attempt to be humorous. Am I being over sensitive? If you were with a child that cannot do the simplest of tasks and yearned to so badly, maybe you would be a bit sensitive too.
