Britney Spears and the Getaway Car….

Yep..that’s Britney Spears speeding off in the white Mini Cooper. She must’ve been in a hurry..because she’s still got curlers in her hair and SPF looks like he’s barely strapped in. Yikes!
UPDATE: HOTMOMMA SPEAKS!
Wow..went away for a couples hours and came back to aTop 5 Explanations for why Britney Spears is driving like this.
- She likes to drive around topless.
- The nanny was supposed to strap SPF in..but she already flew out of the car due to Britney’s high speed.
- Sean Preston wasn’t really sleeping he was actually trying to smell his own belly button (learned that from his dad)
- Britney forgot the baby was in the car?
- At least he’s not in the front seat y’all!

I worked for an Accident Reconstruction Officer for the State Police. He handled only those accidents that involved a fatality or injuries that were so severe they were expected to culminate in a fatality.
Some of you who think the writers are being too hard on Britney need to take a look at some of the photographs he takes for court evidence. See then if you think she deserves “a break.” I can tell you, with certainty, that the court would not give her one in the event of an accident.
Once the damage is done, it’s too late to get it right and then become a responsible parent.
make a message board.
Since when is the safety and well-being of a child . . . ANY child . . . none of business? It should be EVERYONE’S business!!
First of all carseat regulations go by weight and not to be mean to the little guy but he looks like he fits the requirements. Secon of all I doubt she is speeding off, she is on a road with no lines. For all we know she had to take him in the car for a bit to get him to go to sleep.
So here’s an idea…lets pop out another one so she can not only put him in danger, she can be a single mom to TWO instead of just one.
actually the laws go by weight AND AGE. she is once again endangering her child – what a mindless girl – so unfit to be a mother – and to think she has one on the way! oh god!
Wow you people are pathetic. You have such little to do with your time that you get online and bitch about britney spears? I was once told “People only talk shit about other people because they are jealous or insecure”. So what you people are so unhappy with yourselves you need to find faults in others? WTF? Get a life.
i agree its none of anyone’s business. its the business of law enforcement. no one has the right to cast judgement on anyone’s parenting skills or lack there of, especially someone you dont know and know nothing about the situation. maybe all you freak outs should be talking shit about the law enforcement where she lives.
please people 20 years ago most people drove there kids around in cars that had no seat belts, they drove them around and allowed them to sit in the back of station wagons that didnt even have seats and most people turned out just fine. as a society we’ve become so hyper sensitive that all anyone ever does is look for reasons to point the finger. crossing the street with a baby in your hands is potentially deadly, giving a 10 year old a lollipop is potentially deadly, allowing you children on the beach can very likely cause skin cancer or possibly a shark attack. its time to get real people. true it may not be the most responsible thing to do but some comments you people are making about her being an unfit mother are so cruel and unnecessary. have some class, didnt anyone ever tell you not to discuss other people’s personal lives as if you have a clue? seems like all your mothers did a great job on teaching you how to treat others.
CPS should switch her child out with a rag doll…Think she would notice?
As the mother of a 15 month old i am shocked at this picture! That child should be rear facing (and to the poster who keeps saying: who doesn’t turn their children early? um…most people.) Because they are smart and care enough for their childen’s lives and learn to put up with the so called “fits” in the back seat. My daughter is rear facing still and will be until she meets the weight restraictions for the carseat. Then of course she’ll be moved into a booster. That baby also isn’t strapped in properly!!! aaah!!! he’s so slumped forward that any kid of quick stop would eject him from that vehicle. I won’t even get inot the fact that she has him in a convertible with the top down and no sun protection. I like Britney i really do but this is ridiculous!
I think its silly to say its nobodys business. I mean, if thats how you really feel then wtf are YOU doing reading a blog geared toward celebrity gossip??????????????? Duh.
Thanks Hotmomma! Right on, man! That was hilarious.
C’mon, Hot Momma…please put something else out here. All these folks are flippin’ out. Everyone please realize that ALL of us fall short of being perfect. Try not to pass judgement.
“I makes me sick when idiotic parents can’t handle a little crying or use the “It’s Soooo much easier forward facing” reply.”
First of all, it is unnecessarry and RUDE for you to call me an idiot. Second of all, you are in Sweden, I am in America, and the cars/car seats probably are designed differently. I have small children. As in, my 4 year old doesn’t weigh 35 lbs. If I put them rear-facing, they would be curled up in the fetal position. Is that any safer?
All she is really trying to do is ‘one-up’ Shar. She had two kids with K-Fart, so now she has to try and out do her. She is an idiot who has no idea what she’s doing. Hell, with all that money she could hire Shar to teach her how to be a real Mother!!!
My 6 yr old was still in a booster until recently, she well met the regulations, but I just wanted to be safe.
However, we do NOT know the full story here.
She could have been doing nay number of things.
The photo could have been photoshopped.
If you look close you can see a belt across his tummy.
I know my girls both wiggled out of their seat belts and were in that position.
It didn’t matter that I did the whole “pinch an inch”, they still fell forward in such a way that some might have thought I didn’t fasten them in right.
I did the whole sit in the seat myself to make sure it doesn’t budge when attaching it to the car.
I moved my daughter FF before her 1st birthday, but I got permission from her doctor, and it wasn’t the law here then.
My neice, she’s going on 2, she’s 36lbs, her sister, she’s 3, and she weighs 22lbs.
By these standards, she was to be RF until recently.
(she’s thin, but tall, healthy, just the “thin” she got, whereas her sister got the “chubby” mommy copy cat genes – in case you’re wondering)
I think some of you personally have no life to be sitting here bitching about a picture of Britney and her son, that we have no clue what happened before the shot, or after.
Why sit here and debate her choices?
Sure she’s a celebrity and is under the media scrutiny.
But aren’t there others to whine about?
Paris?
Lindsay?
Angelina?
Leave the poor girl alone now.
Let those around her worry about her and her son.
There is NOTHING any of you can do about it.
Uh…anyone care to talk about the fact that this photo is taken from a helicoptor. Not sure what to think about a helicoptor following a car with an infant in it so that paparazzi can snap pictures to sell for big bucks. If I were her, I’d want to get my kid the hell out of there too.
no one is perfect.
are you any better then her to pass judgement on her?
“he who is without sin casts the first stone”
its obvious he should be strapped in more tightly, as well as the fact that he should be rear facing and the seat should be angled better so his head doesnt flop over. at least she has a safe car seat, not that it is doing much for her as she apparently has no idea how to keep her baby safe.
My dd rear-faced until 27 months – when she hit the weight limit of her convertible seat. I was not willing to give up the safety benefit before then. Not everyone has to keep them rf that long (although it is far safer), but please keep them rf’ing to a min of a 1 yr AND 20#’s. Please. Look at the videos/links posted above in a pt.
Sean is in Britax Marathon. And he is too loose. The straps need to be tight enough that a person can’t pinch ANY slack in an up/down pinch at the shoulder. If they are tight enough, nothing but their head can slump.
JJ – Child Passenger Safety Technician
okay people, we have established the following things about this situation:
* Sean should be Rear Facing.
* Sean should be strapped in tighter.
* Sean should be in a different seat.
* Sean should have a hat on.
* Sean should NOT be in a convertible.
* Britney should have one of the following:
# mommy intervention
# Sean taken from her
# a good talking too
# every name in the book thrown in her general direction
* The helicopter pilot isn’t wrong from hovering over her.
Come on people get a life now.
Stop throwing names at Britney, it’s a picture.
You don’t know what’s going on here, except what you want to assume.
Now please Hot Momma find another picture to show!
There was a story about shar talking about how good a father Kevin is, or the story about Denise & Charlie coming to a peaceful choice regarding the restraining order and possible custody issues.
There are other gossipy stories, now go get a life!
everyone here is an expert, of some sort huh??
Gee I feel so much better knowing all these child safety experts are so busy chatting it up on a gossip message board.
How about you??
It doesn’t take a safety expert to see that Britney obviously has no clue what the F*** she’s doing. Sean obviously isn’t restrained correctly and it’s SAD.
Yes, I am an expert. I am a CPST. That means Child Passenger Safety Technician for those of you who don’t know better.
CPST’s ARE the experts when it comes to car safety.
So as an “expert” I’m telling everyone, “It is AWFUL, THOUGHTLESS and IDIOTIC for ANY parent to turn their child forward before they weigh 20lbs and are 1 yr old.”
First of all if ya don’t have a child yourself, then shut the f@*k up!! You don’t know what your talking about! That always happened with my daughters head to, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT TEENIE BOPPERS!!
Actually the California law doesn’t say anything about 1 year AND 20 lbs. – it only says kids up to 60 lbs have to be restrained. It even says that a child under 60 lbs. can ride in a forward facing car seat in the front seat if you have a 2 seater. It says that if the child is less than 20 lbs. OR under 1 year they can’t ride in the front seat in a 2 seat car. As far as rear-facing goes – according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety – here is the California law for infant seats:
younger than 1 yr. or less than 20 lbs. or in a rear-facing restraint system in rear seat only if front passenger air bag is active; 5 yrs. and younger or less than 60 lbs. in a rear seat2 (rear seat requirements eff. 1/1/05)
That said – I still wouldn’t turn my child around that young – she’s 17 months old and still rear-facing in my car. She rode forward facing in DH’s car for the first time last week. And SP is not strapped in tightly enough.
But she’s not breaking the law – she’s just not smart enough to work the straps on her seat properly.
Just had to say that not everyone puts their child forward facing early. My daughter is 13 months old and 22lbs. ans still happily rides rear facing. In fact the few times that I have put her forward facing she screamed for most of the car ride. Not sure what’s going on in the pic or if that’s even Brittany for that matter, but if it is then someone really needs to teach her a thing or two. However the girl does deserve a break. For all we know all this stuff that is online, in the magazines, and what not is all just made up.
Myabe he did have a hat and he took it off.
and maybe he was strapped in properly but took his arms out?
Is she meant to stop in the middle of the road to put his hat back on and strap him back in every time he does it?
Babies are little wrigglers!
Its better that she cause an accident than to have her child sunburnt.
Her in New Zealand we put our babies forward facing at 6months. Guess that makes us a country of bad parents.
Ok, I haven’t read all the comments, but just wanted to answer a question asked. Someone said, “Can you imagine a 2 year old rear facing?” Yes, I can. Our first child had severe medical problems & was rear facing his entire life. He died from complications of his chromosomal anomaly at age 2 1/2. W/my youngest son, I specifically bought a seat w/a rear facing limit of 35lbs (our middle child’s seat only went to 30lbs). He reached that limit around his second birthday & only then did we turn him forward facing b/c rear facing is safest. I understand the temptation many feel to turn their child forward facing ASAP, but, for me, my child’s safety will ALWAYS come first. My first son, didn’t cry audibly much due to his medical issues, but my youngest has a healthy set of lungs on him & can CRY! Even when he’d cry 3 solid hours b/c of wanting OUT of his car seat, we’d NEVER have him not buckled in while driving, nor were we willing to turn him any sooner than necessary even if it would have made him happier in the car or made him cry less. Just my 2 cents.
Okay since we have an expert on here, I’d love to know if they are currently registered with the NHTSA?
Also according to the, all you are trained for is to help install child safety seats.
So that only makes you an expert in how to properly INSTALL the child safety seat.
But you know what, this has all gotten out of hand here.
Big deal. It’s Britney’s life and her son.
Some country’s allow you change your child’s position to FF earlier then the US, but I guess those countries all have TERRIBLE parents now, seeing as they do it.
But wow, the kids live……..
Seriously all of you who sit here and bitch about this, why not go take care of your children instead of whining about Britney and her kids.
Are you jealous that she can give her kids what you can’t monetarily?
Now seriously, go take care of your children.
And for those who don’t have kids, you really shouldn’t be running your month until you’ve had a child.
And I am so happy that all of you have decided that you are a better FTM or that you are the all mighty know it all here.
Just leave the poor girl alone.
You only see TWO pictures here.
What is the rest of the story?
Maybe she stopped right after to fix Sean……
You don’t know that.
And of course a picture of Sean hooked up right wouldn’t drawn headlines now would it??
Oh if you care to find a CPST close to you, check out this link by the National Highway safety board.
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cps/contacts/index.cfm
CPST’s ARE the experts when it comes to car safety.
No they are the experts to installing a child seat right….
#1me…gossip is very different than hurling personal attacks about someone and their child. there has to be a line somewhere if you are any kind of woman with class.
I WOULD THINK THE CHILD WELFARE WOULD LOOK INTO REMOVE THIS CHILD … STAR OR NOT SHE IS STILL PLACING THE CHILD IN DANGER. TIME TO TREAT THE STARS WITH THE SAME RULES/TREATMENT.
while most of these posts about child car safety may be correct to some degree (as many are completely wrong)the only realistic post (and one worth reading) is anon 1:02. i hope some of you *perfect* mothers out there dont skip the talk with your kids about how to treat other people with empathy and respect- some of the obnoxious/mean comments on here make me fear for the children you all are raising.
You know no one has yet to mention in any of these comments the fact that she has her convertible top DOWN. THAT in itself is dangerous to Sean because the wind coming in especially in the back seat of that car would be forceful and take his breath away. Ever taken a baby out on a windy day? Strong winds take their breath away! BAD MOVE BRITNEY!! Get off the carseat already people the OXYGEN DEPRIVATION is the problem here!!
They’re a HUGE difference between being a “perfect mother” and putting your child in blatant danger! My 2 year old still rides Rear Facing because it’s SAFER. I don’t take shortcuts when it comes to his safety. I don’t think anyone should take shortcuts when it comes to the safety of their childrent.
Bottom line. SPF should be rear facing and he’s NOT. If he was buckled in properly he would NOT slump. I don’t know how you women who say your children slump are strapping in your kids… but if the chest clip was where it is supposed to be only his head would be able to slump.
I suggest you all take your carseats into your local fire station and have them help you install them properly.
I’m not really surprised, actually, isn’t it like 80 percent of carseats are not installed correctly?
LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you all putting convenience before the needs of your children… JUST LOVELY.
shut the f!!k up! enough already!!!
anon 8:59am you seem pretty distressed by the comments, heres a hint: dont click the comments tab.
Anon 7:33, you are amazed at how so many have their kids slump over?
Have you ever had a wiggle worm child who can get their arms through the straps, and put their arms OVER the straps?
Or like my neice who can undo the little clip there to stop that.
Every time my kids fell asleep in a car they would slump over, not quite like Sean does, but still slump over.
All of us here need to just get over this, seriously.
We only see a second into this story.
Why not worry more on your own kids, then her’s?
You should be more concerned with raising your child right with manners, then to teach them to talk dirt about others.
Lead by example.
I guess as long as she keeps him away from the swimming pool everything should be okay.
tsk tsk tsk – no matter how stressful it is with your child rear facing, it’s no excuse to bend the rules. that’s why they have inventions like the mirror specifically for rear facing toddlers and anxious moms. that’s an awful shame.
“First of all, it is unnecessarry and RUDE for you to call me an idiot. Second of all, you are in Sweden, I am in America, and the cars/car seats probably are designed differently. I have small children. As in, my 4 year old doesn’t weigh 35 lbs. If I put them rear-facing, they would be curled up in the fetal position. Is that any safer?”
YESSSS!!!! It IS MUCH safer!
Here are some kids sitting as safe as they can be:
http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/RFAlbumAll.aspx
Copied:
Is it plain awful parenting to allow your child to travel front facing before 12 months or
20 pounds?
Is it plain awful to keep poisons within easy reach of a 1 year old?
Is it plain awful to allow a baby to play unattended near water or in the bathtub?
Is it plain awful to leave a baby unattended on a changing table or high surface with no
guard rail?
Combined, drowning, poisoning and falls don’t add up to the number of infants under 1 year
who die in motor vehicle crashes. Yet, many parents who are wise enough to prevent these
types of injury dismiss the risks of allowing a child to be improperly restrained in a car.
If a front-facing baby under a year old or under 20 pounds is in a frontal crash, there is
a real risk of severe complications to the spinal cord, or even death. A rear-facing seat
would greatly reduce these risks. In fact, when used correctly, rear-facing seats are so
safe they often allow a baby to survive a crash that would not be survivable for adults in
the front seat.
So, why would a parent risk a child’s life? I’m always interested to hear what valid points
parents use to keep their children unrestrained or improperly restrained. I haven’t heard
one yet that is a good enough reason for me to change my mind and subject my kids to a very
real risk of paralysis or death. The 12 month AND 20 pound rule is not a casual rule-of-thumb.
It is an absolute minimum point to allow a child to be front-facing, based on statistics.
It is also strongly endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, who also recommend
children remain rear-facing as long as possible.
I can’t get over all the people defending Britney, whose only pathetic comebacks are something to the effect of that this doesn’t make her a bad mom. So help me out here… does this make her a good mom? I do mind my own kids and I also volunteer my time to check carseats in my community. I had to take a 32 hour course, like all CPS Technicians, just to do this. Many of us do this strictly as volunteer work. We are trained to spot misuse, and see it in about 90% of all seats we check. For those of you reminising about the good old days when no-one made a fuss over such silly matters like carseats… did people drive with cellphones then? What about the speed limit? Were the roads as busy? Was there as much road rage and tailgating? People just don’t get why we do what we do. Imagine if 90% of all lifejackets were defective? How about 90% of all fire alarms in schools? What if 911 service was out 90% of the time? When the LEADING cause of death in children is automobile accidents and those are almost always preventable by proper carseat use, do you see why we make a big deal? So am I losing sleep over little SPF? Hardly. But I can totally invision what would happen in a crash… the carseat would fail due to improper use (and don’t anyone say that they were within the law… crash dynamics don’t check with state law before snapping little necks)and then Britney would blame the paparazzi who was chasing her, looking to get the next big shot of her carseat blunders, then a bunch of uniformed, ignorant fans would come to her defense and say that the carseat didn’t work, and that it wasn’t her fault… is this scenario really that far-fetched?
oh, wait, I forgot. celebrities don’t get in car crashes. Never mind my rambling.
all anyone “defending” britney is saying is that none of us have the right to judge- especially people you dont know, in a situation you weren’t present. your speculations and accusations are completely baseless. its one picture- you dont have the slightest idea of what she did 2 seconds after that. perhaps she DID look in that mirror and see him slumped and immediately pulled over to fix it. to call someone a bad mother due to pictures you see (as we all know a little thing called photoshop or any other applications make photos totally unreliable)or magazine articles that rely on your ignorance to sell magazines. all others have been saying is its one thing to attack the behavior its another to attack the person. get over yourselves you dont know her or the situation.
ok anon 5:59 if 90% of all seats are installed wrong, why do you see the need to crucify her? and your next thing would be: “b/c shes a celebrity and she asked for this stalking by being famous” blah blah blah the girl hasnt put out an album in like 3 years, so b/c she sang some gay songs and did some stupid dance she now has assumed the position of role model to child car safety? bullshit- if your looking to britney for any kind of role modeling you or your children have more problems than she does.
everyone’s CA state law stuff is wrong too: “The vehicle code doesn’t say you have to have the baby seat in a rear-facing position,” but does maintain following federal guidelines, he said. “The bottom line is that if an officer saw her, one officer could have said it was no problem, and another could have given her a citation.”
http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=223456>1=7702
check your facts everybody…
Okay we have established what Britney did here as to be a bad choice.
But from what the law enforcement spokesmen said in a recent news report, if Sean was of the weight limit, he could be placed FF.
But come on now, why don’t any of you talk nice about her when she’s seen with her son, and they look good?
Why not quit already?
Sean isn’t your son, nor can you do anything about it.
90% of all child seats are installed wrong.
Do you harass others when you see their seats are wrong?
If not, please start now.
I DO!
Thank you.. I couldnt say it better myself
